Earl764 , making out OK with the exposed pipes? 6* here this morning, and my water is flowing just fine with the heat tape I mentioned.

    Fall weather has returned...finally.

We normally see about 3 inches of rain here in November, but up until Wednesday we had just .71"
The rain gauge is coming up now and by months end I suspect 2 inches plus.
Still managing to heat with only the Small Whitfield most nights.... Last week we had cool dry air, clear skies and wind.... this really sucks the heat out of the shack.

Morning were a two stove show for an hour or so to get 70 F in the house.

Now with the rainy soggy weather the little stove is shouldering the load fine again.

Heading off to the Daughter/Son in law's today for the family get together.... will use the big stove as it can run all day without issue.

The weee stove requires that the pot be "Swished" with a putty knife about every 6 hours to clear the clinker... so it's not a fill it and forget it thing...

The shells leave more residue and the little Whit just will not move enough air through the pot...at least and not blow the fire out between each time the auger feeds.

Balancing act... but is fine when we are home and able to tend it.

Bed at 11 and up at 5 or 6 and life is good.

Go too long and it chokes on the shells and they back up.

Been thinking about installing a timer to shut off the feed every hour or so for maybe 2-3 minutes to allow pot to burn down and clear some... this might allow the total burn time without messing with the unit to be stretched out...

Just read on Slickdeals that EBay has the 10000 watt Duromax dual fuel generator on sale for $499.00 with free shipping. I hit the same deal last year and so far, it’s treated me well.

I bought one of those low priced generators a few years ago. I think it was around $300 for a 5500 or 6500. ran for perhaps 3 years and then failed. one field opened up apparently, so it only put out about 70 volts. made the coffeepot do strange things on the campout we were on. tried a new bridge rectifier - no go . its in the shed waiting for me to toss it. bought a Generac 5 years ago - still operates properly.

you have to watch out for 'peak output' and continuous ratings as most of them are rated for peak. kinda like rating pellet BTU's with 'zero moisture'

My grandfather had a sign up in his power equipment shop that read:

The bitterness of poor quality will remain long after the sweetness of low price.

Did you get an electric/battery snow shovel/blower? I just ordered a small hybrid cord or battery. Small 13 in swath. I didn't want one that has too much weight.

Look what followed me home during various jaunts today (not Black Friday shopping - just getting stuff I needed)

Okay, gotta admit I deliberately stopped at the local Aubuchon's on the way home from the dump this morning. Got 10 bags of Oakie Plats for $7.29/bag. But wait there's more; 10+ bags were 10% off. But wait, there's more; for spending more than $50 I got $10 in rewards. So, in the end I paid somewhere in the vicinity of $5.60/bag. Never tried these before - too bad I didn't get them before the cold snap to test them out.

This afternoon I went to HD. I passed by a pile of Chows and since I've never even seen any before, I picked up 5 bags at $5.19/bag.

Don't worry, I'm sure you have plenty of winter left to try the Plat's. As for the Chows, I always thought they were a real good performer for the price.

BTW, did you see the ton price for the Chows?

I've got a bit less than a ton of the old school golds from 2 years ago buried in the garage stacks.

The new stuff be in the house :D. The garage stash is well protected with a watch-car and snow blower and random stuff piled in front of the, um, pile of pellets. They don't move for anyone but Mama

1st bag of Chows will go into the P43 today.

Gutters cleaned. Final leaf pickup of the season complete. Now to clean out the garage and get the boat in there for the winter. Ran out of daylight today, so hopefully weather will permit tomorrow!
