My wife and kids (teenagers) are hard workers and always help whenever they are around. My wife actually has a small scar on her head from stacking wood with the kids a few years ago. Moments after she warned the kids to keep their heads up, she bent over to pick up a split and ended up taking another split to the noggin. Wife and son swear it was an accident

Wife used to be all in with the wood process.. Scavenging, queuing up rounds to split, stacking, loading outdoor boiler.. Then she tweaked something in her back while clearing brush on a scrounge, had her laid up for weeks. Haven't let her touch it in years, up until this fall when she ran the splitter handle for a while and chucked splits into the back of the truck. Now that we have switched to an indoor stove, she has mastered the stove and handles it plenty, especially when I'm away for work.

At our place it's 'all hands on deck' when it comes to getting the firewood in.

Mine helps stackin if needed, she'll keep the stove running and such. But Firewood chores are usually kept man's bizness in this household.

Mine helps more than I want her too. I enjoy the solitude. She may be at the log pile more often. Even made her a pallet firewood carrier to make her life easier.
