Allan, it might be a lot less cost to send it to one of the guys on this forum who work magic on saws. If you like I could get you in contact with one or three of them.

A friend stopped over yesterday and he was having problems with his small Echo top handle saw. He hadn't used it in some time and in preparation of using it, he bought a new chain for it. He couldn't get it put back together so he asked me.
I had never held an Echo in my hand but I thought it can't be too tough. I used my compressor to clean it up a bit and in looking at it I noticed a difference with the Stihl saws I have. The chain tensioner on the Echo is on the clutch cover. He thought the chain was too short. I got it put back together and thought he wasn't seeing a chain guide on the lower part of the saw. When I fir started to put the chain on, I thought it was short as well but I saw a lot os slack in the chain. That is when I saw the chain guide that the chain was under so I put the chain above the guide and everything fell into place. Put a little bit of bar oil in it and he started it up and ran great. He was just having a senior moment on how to replace a chain on his saw. Not using a piece of equipment for a period of time makes doing the simple things on them difficult:whistle:It certainly gives a person a good feeling when they can help a friend with a project. We all need help once in awhile.

It's a very good idea but right now there's uncertainty on tariffs on things crossing the border going both ways.

I know that and that is what makes this place so great. People who have never met face to face can have fun with each other, cry with each other, comfort each other and encourage each other. Right now you all are trying to encourage campinspecter to spend money on his toys - er I mean tools. It is great comradery.

It is indeed fun and somehow.....comfortable, I guess is the word I'm looking for!! Also I have noticed that there are no undercurrents of meanness that other sites sometimes have. I will also say that all good Husbands (campinspecter certainly, and I hope myself) have a healthy respect for their Wives thoughts and opinions. It makes for a more balanced approach to life! However you solve the saw problem, Best wishes for a warm hearth and dancing secondary burns!
