I just brought in a wheelbarrow load of 10-12" oak shorts, had to go further down into the stack. Got some ash N-S and oak E-W in the stove now.
I guess the stove is warm enough now. Before he heard me load the stove he was asleep on his back in the basement showing everyone his not long for this world nuts.
Lol thanks! After my first winter in this house with an old Vermont Castings fireplace, and the Hearthstone in the basement I needed something efficient! I could pack them both as tight as possible, and not even have coals for a relight in the morning.
Had -6°F overnight, 11°F but should climb to 22°F for a high today. Burning birch at the moment, keeping an eye on a freezing rain event tomorrow night.
Sitting at -7 C or 20 F for now, should see -4 C or 25 F later on. Nice weather to hunt in, just not the best weather to hunt in.
It should say 39°F.... Pffffff -39°F my bawsack! The coldest we had it around here was -6°F as far as i can remember.
Heat wave happening here. It is 46 outside!!!!! Really nice. Might be some snow coming Sunday and then cooling back down.
37.4°F around here, where those darn bermuda shorts and my tshirt. No snow in plane sight, its gonna be raining on sunday i heard. Inside 73°F, outside 37.4°F. Wind around 12 mph. Fir, spruce and birch in the fire....found some dry willow too
i hear ye, i walked across the yard to the wood pile on my socks which was plenty. gonnae go hunting the morra. hard to beat a beautiful morning during this time of the year.
52 and windy. Boiler is stuffed with a bunch of cottonwood I found out in the barn and needed out of the way.
They are both species of larch but Tamarack Larch tend to be a smaller species of Larch compared to the Western Larch we have here. How this effects btus I dont know.
45F here with a breeze. Had sun most of the day & really enjoyed it. Hauled the totes up to the boiler, cleaned up some "stuff" etc. Made for a great day! Supposed to rain tomorrow & Sunday, then get colder again. Could really do without the rain. Ground was just freezing up good. Silver Maple from last night still going in the boiler. Couple pics of the wood I moved.
17 here, just about down to the predicted low of 15. Supposed to hit 40 tomorrow! couple pine splits burning down coals in the IS. There are plenty to deal with after running it hard with red oak the last 24 hours. I can see why some users have modded the stove to help with the coal burning job.
