Looks good Pete. You're right… paint doesn't last long does it? How are you powering the lift?… Separate ram or cable powered by the main ram?

I am gonna hook up the electric winch for now. I need to get the battery still so I'll probably hit up a junk yard for a $25 one and pick up a battery maintainer as well. What I'd really like to do is hook up an alternator from a car to the pump shaft to charge the battery.

Any chance there's good access possibility for one pulley position to change the direction 90 degrees… so a retracting main ram could pull the lift up? Once up drop a pin/or click lock into a hold point and quickly pull off the cable hook from the lift, while you worked with logs you lifted. Drop the lift by a quick release or pin pull. Just a thought.

I thought of that too but I already have the winch laying around. The second advantage is I can roll the large rounds by using the winch to pull the big ones to the splitter and on to the lift.

Can't beat that part. Having any way to save your back is the way to go… always. Cool.

Ok the more I think about powering the lift off the ram the more the idea is growing on me fellas. I think you might be right about it guys! Do any of you have pics of this in operation? I have a good idea of how to do it but I wanna see it first hand before I do it. My biggest issue is how to attach it to the ram without it getting in the way.

    Thanks fellas.

I like the concept that Mike has linked. It could be done with a cable too. I have a HD cable pulley wheel and 1" pin that could be used.

The issue with using the splitting cylinder for the lift is the cable is in the way of the log rolling into place or the cylinder is extended when the lift is raised -- depending on how you rig it... The patented one gets around it by having a table to roll the log onto from the lift so you can then retract the cylinder and lower the lift without the log falling off.

(Got mine all welded AND painted. Just waiting on a few fittings and hoses that were back ordered)

How you going to isolate the bevarage holder from excessive vibration?

I have a spring that I have been messing with and it appears to work well. It is going to get bolted to the right of the oil tank and eliminates most of the vibration to the holder. There is still some but not bad!
