I'm sure its been covered, but what are y'all using for log totes? Last year I used a Rubbermaid tote. While it worked, it wasn't ideal. For reasons which only make my head hurt, my tote was given away earlier this fall, so I need a new one. I'd like to buy one of the canvas sling type totes, but I don't want to end up buying a cheap POS, or even worse....an expensive POS. Any suggestions?
I used a canvas style last year, it worked well! I've changed it up this year and bring in 4 wheel barrel loads up a ramp onto the deck, while my son loads a 4'x4' single stack rack in the living room. This gets me through about 5-6 days.
I’ve been using two canvas totes from Tractor Supply for several years. Good price. Works well. Lasts.
Another vote for canvas tote. Bought one off amazon 2 years ago. Less than 15 bucks and has held up well. I burned a slash into it with the edge of my ash rake and it hasn’t ripped in that spot with all the heavy loads.
I bought this one last year or the year before Firewood carrier Amazon calls it an extra large one, which means it carries almost an armload of firewood. I actually wish it was a little bigger , as it takes two trips to fill the grandpa bear, all those other carriers would take three or four trips! My wife likes it because it makes the wood easy to carry and minimizes the mess from the wood
Exact same thing last year...worked well...this year we have a wood box...i still use them to carry wood in to fill the box.
Whatever you do,the key is to buy two carriers and use them both at the same time. Put a little more than half a load in each one. You'll be able to carry more wood with less effort when you have 2 smaller loads balanced on each side instead of a single loaded tote.
I've had a few of these Bags , They don't last forever but, The ones I got last time (March 6, 2018) I like better than the any other ones, they open up farther Then the others, Seems like they hold a little bit more too, I use them Almost everyday and these Are Not showing any ware at all So far . Looks like the price went up a little bit I paid $12.99 for 2 of them. They keep the dirt and crap contained pretty well
I also use two canvas totes with closed ends to fill the porch boxes, had them for years and like them a lot. Little to no wear.
I have a canvas tote around here somewhere. Lately I've just been using milk crates. I can stack them up on their sides. Pine in a fish basket: Well seasoned pine doesn't weigh much.
We use 5 gal buckets, 5 or 6 buckets will fill our big wood box up. Keeps all the bark and trash contained.
Never did like the canvas totes, I always try or over load them with just one last split. I've been using this metal log carrier. Catches all the small stuff off splits and I can open the door of stove tip it and the small stuff slides right into stove. For a big storm I have a 2' diameter metal hoop that I put on a small wood dolly.load it by door and roll it to stove. I put a shallow cardboard box on dolly first and the hoop inside of it. No box yet gotta find the right size.
I have the leather tote from Duluth Trading, like it a lot. Log Ox just came out with a sling type that looks pretty cool. Life in Farmland just reviewed it on his channel
Banana boxes all the way. Perfect for the task in every way, including cost. If you don't like the look, cardboard takes paint or contact paper wonderfully. It's like, bananas, how great they are!
