    Hi Urban Woods - I was referencing fresh cut as well. Haven't had the chance to burn any yet! To me, it smelled sweet, but not like black birch sweet, more of a thick syrupy sweet. I didn't find the scent too strong, just a whiff here and there unless you really got your face into it.

    it's a 36" Granberg Alaskan, I bought it used here on the forums.

    That locust is hard on the old chain!!

    That's the one. I didn't think or know to look for a used one at the time. Smart move on your part there.
    Most of what we try to mill here is harder on the chains due to old nails and metal anchors than anything else.

    White oak smells good too, fresh cut and as it begins to dry.
