I am thinking it is the same buck. Wide with short tines. I guess him at 3 1/2 in 2015 so he should be around 6 1/2 now.
I do, thats such an odd rack, even for the bucks i have seen you post. But the unusual width, the small undersize browtines and at least on his right side emergence of the g2 and g3 in almost the same spots along the main beam. He is no more than 3.5 in the first pic. My thoughs, since your more northern than me, usually with larger body and antler size i would be tempted to call him 2.5 in the first pic. Which would make him 5.5 to 6.5 today, which i beleive he could be.
Funny as these are the only 2 times I have pictures of this deer. 3 years apart. Pretty sure he's 3.5 in the first pic. Low nutrient Canadian Shield area.
That's why your taught in school the only way to really age them is to pull that jaw bone. And I only had a few wildlife classes in school!!
woke up this morning to find this gal dead in the front yard . Got hit last night during the snow storm. I brought it out to the woods to gut so the dogs wouldn't get into it and this 6 pointer was standing at my stand watching me. There I sat with no gun....
You have to use a tag on a deer hit by car? Was the meat all blood shot? down here it's not a big deal cause I think we have like 6 doe tags and I can buy 4 more if I want.
I didn't need to use my tag, . The neat was all blood shot. Meat cutter was going to salvage what he can...
Yea most car hits are best to not fool with. I would cut the skin off the back and pull the loins and cut behind the rib cage and cut into the abdomen and cut out the tenderloins. Check out the hams but probably just grab those and toss the rest for the coyotes
Thanks for the advice. This is new to me so I didn't have much hope. We'll find out next week what got saved
