Well, not a total wash in the woods today.

Saw a fawn n doe browsing, saw no buck in attendance.

Pic is from about 40+ yards away.
    IMG_20181119_095325941.jpg
Was able to get about 20 yds away when the fawn either scented me, or caught a movement. The doe fixed on me and commenced to stomp and snort till the little one was away a bit, then she booked.

Then I caught some movement out of the corner of my left eye, saw a big one moving away about 80+ yds. It had its head down so I can't be certain it was a buck. It's fur was so dark it looked nearly black.

I gave a hit on the grunt call, but it was having none of that.

Heard one shot on neighbors property around 3PM, not sure if it was that deer or not.

Kicked out a nice doe down by the RR tracks, but don't have a doe permit.

At least I saw some today.

My dog did some hunting in the back yard this afternoon. Spotted about a half.dozen does and fawn. He was telling them he was gonna kill them dead....if he wasnt tied to the swing set like a biatch.

Well, the "new" pre-lit Christmas tree we got 4 years ago is only "pre-lit" on 3 of 4 sections...:picard:more like "post-lit" on the 4th one now :hair:

My son and I made a delivery of a custom pine table made from re-purposed wood yesterday afternoon. It was made to hold the top of an old china cabinet.

The intended owner had to back out on the deal, but it worked out fine and the new owner was very excited that it fit perfectly in the space. I believe it will be used holding food for her Thanksgiving dinner.

It was also a good lesson for my son to see how working with your hands and tools can bring satisfaction and appreciation of completed pieces. We won't get rich on this, but it feeds the tool purchase habit and can put some coin in his pocket for helping.

That is a nice looking table - glad you found someone who could appreciate it as well as spend time with your fine son on this project.

Beautiful, was it old growth pine flooring? I see that pop up on Craigslist now and then. Very cool to use salvaged wood.

Not old growth. Southern yellow pine from Arkansas and heart pine.

About to head out to the shop and do some cleaning. It's amazing how fast it gets totally disorganized.

It is suppose to rain today. campinspecter and his companions headed out early for a trip down island for shopping. I am headed into work this morning. Spent yesterday at Mom's and getting stuff done here. Got my flu shot so I should be good for this winter.

I have ginger and lemon in the dehydrator and the house smells awesome. I should go and have breakfast as it is making me hungry.

I love it quiet. The more quiet, the better. So you can hear a squirrel fart at 50 yards! That is the best.

Just wondering why you are dehydrating them. Also how do slice them up.

You might like this. I sat in a different spot last night and saw only one deer. But it was a buck. It was about like a hunter's dream as I saw it coming from a ways away. When it got right in front of me it turned and came right toward me. At about 20 yards it turned broadside and stood there for a few minutes then walked to my left then up the little hill and stopped again at about 20 yards, broadside. Yes, I did think strongly about shooting as it was a pretty good size for a 6 point, but instead, just enjoyed the show. Still waiting for the big one.

My hearing isn’t all that great so quiet works against me. If I heard a squirrel fart at 50yards away I’d fall out of the tree stand. :bug:
