When you look at what a chain goes through with the abuse it takes I've always been impressed more of them don't break.

Hard to tell by the chain pics if the cutters were rounded over before the chain broke. There usually aren't too many perfect teeth after they impact the chain catcher

Makes you just want to be on the helper handle of a 2 man saw. When men were men and your forhead was the chain catcher !

I've had two break over the years, both "deck" chains, half worn out & dull from cutting in the dirt. Lean on em hard to get through the last few cuts & snap. Looked just like yours. Chain catchers are on there for a reason. Clean her up through a new chain on & go again. Did have one slap my chaps a little, but no big deal.

No it doesn't! I have caught chainsaw chains in the forehead before and spent four days in the hospital from that event. No rinse and repeat for me thanks!

I would post pictures of me being stitched up in the emergency room (20 stitches), but Katie passed out taking the pictures.

You know I have .404 full skip ,.375, on my Husky 77. .404 in King . As it keeps chips out of the bar. But those chips are more like chunks . .375 chain outputs chips . What I did was start measuring your chips soon as chips float in the air your already dull. .404 is .030 raker .375 is .025 stick to this rule and you should have saw bar and chain that last along time .and piles of chips everywhere.

IMG_3128.JPG Anyone notice anything missing? Never realized it at the moment but did when I went to put a new chain on today.

What’s up with that tooth right below the red paint chip?
Looks like it’s flat filed straight across?

Either it's the angle of the pic or the tooth got damaged when it broke. I didn't inspect it much just threw it in the trash
