The last few days here in central PA have felt more like winter. Some of you have followed the issues I've been having with the new stove. What I hadn't mentioned was that I've been having a hard time heating the house. I heat from the basement (poured foundation with double wide on top) so I'm not expecting miracles. The wood stove I replaced could heat the whole house without much issue unless it was bitterly cold. The Osburn I am running now actually has a bigger firebox. I could not figure out why I couldn't get the house warm. It's been running in the mid 60s lately. I had my eureka moment tonight. This whole time the drop ceiling was missing a tile almost directly above the stove. It came down this summer and I just never got one back in (not sure why). All of my heat has been going in to the ceiling and staying there. Heeeeres yer sign Marvin
So, how did "all this heat" that The wood stove I replaced could heat the whole house without much issue unless it was bitterly cold get past the ceiling with the old stove ?
The tile fell out this summer and I just never replaced it. Never gave it much thought to be honest. There is a staircase about 10 feet in front of the stove that the heat goes up to reach the rest of the house.
A customer of mine had the same setup full basement under his doublewide and somehow he put floor registers at both ends of house with small fans in them and he said made a big difference in heat getting to the far ends of his house . I heat my small house frame house on poured basement the stove sits in a concrete closet under the stone fireplace once it warms all that stone and concrete the house is 75-80 when its 5 outside hope your new setup works as expected JB
