Meant to comment on the Paradigm windows. We have about 40 of them we installed over the years - oldest are about 10 year in place. No issues so far. Double glazed. A friend installed their triple glazed in a new house he built, and no issues.

that looks neat. you were following a trail? In our country some of the brushy stuff would be covering holes.

Yes, just a bushwhacked trail that I made to get down to the stream, there are bits and pieces of old skidder trails from the last time the land was logged about 40 years ago.

I hired a forester, he came out last week, I will likely be putting a good bit of the land into "tree growth" for some property tax relief, that requires a formal management plan. Turns out the forester I hired just re-assessed the 41.5 acre lot right next to me, it has been entirely in "tree growth" for the last 40 years. The forester has recommended to my neighbor that she could harvest some timber, we might end up piggy backing and harvest some timber from our land also. Makes me a little nervous as the point is "our house in the woods" and I don't want to destroy that. The forester indicated that my neighbor is mostly interested in maintaining overall forest health and conservation, that she is not wishing to maximize the value of the timber on the land:thumbs:. I have her number, I need to call her. So if we piggy back our harvests it would get us both a better price without having to cut heavy:sherlock:. My plan was to approach the neighbor about buying her land at some point...we are not able to do that financially right now, our build went :makeitrain"with the blasting and other unforeseen expenses.

I am inundated with firewood right now!:faint: I've prolly got 20 cords on the ground here in log form from the clearing plus 15 cords in the woodshed back at our other house. This house is sipping firewood:smoke:.

Yes, GPS trackers...the Hounds like to run, although I've been keeping them close as its deer season right now and I have not posted my land yet. The porky population is healthy around here too. I've done some avoidance training with the Hounds with dead porkys and they seem to have that down but I'm still not sure how they will react to a live one, I don't usually know what they are tracking when they get on a scent.

I was down there the other day and the resident beaver were out swimming, couple of impressive tail slaps, got the Hounds attention. I need to find out if there are any fish in the stream, it looks pretty "trouty".

    That's cool!
What are the mechanics on the trackers?
Do you track them on your computer?
Do they transmit back to a receiver at your house?

The receiver is a handheld unit. It's a Garmin system called "Alpha", it's a GPS and ecollar in one so I can send a signal to each dog independently from the handheld in the form of a beep, vibrate or a shock. The collar transmits it's data by radio wave, so the range depends on the topography, 900-1000 yards you start loosing them.

Nothin fancy for the tree, actually it's artificial...my daughter is allergic to the mold spores that come in on most evergreens, she spent the first few Christmases of her life pretty miserable till we figured it out.

We are settling in nicely. We're supposed to get a bit of final grading done this fall, but the weather didn't cooperate, so it will likely wait till spring. I've got about two miles of trails cut along the property lines, have had a few run ins with the local porkys:hair:, they seem to be pretty thick around here, no quillings yet luckily, dispatched a half dozen so far, I've done a fair amount of avoidance training with the Hounds but it's hard, their prey drive is pretty strong.

Very well trained dogs. What are you using for treats? The. Red on the dogs is that just so you can see them easier or part part of tracking collar? Last question, bear bell's. And thank you for answering my questions in advance

I make plain dried beef as a training treat, like beef jerky with no marinade.

The blaze orange is attached to their leash collars, it's hunting season, it also has a reflective stripe on it. No Fly Zone ™ Safety Dog Kerchief Accessory

The bells help me to locate them, and give other people and game a warning. They each have their own tone. I don't even hear the bells anymore unless I think about it. I get a lot of comments about them, usually "sheep" or "Santa/reindeer", once I was way in the back country up the side of a mountain and I met a family with children who had apparently been listening to the bells for some time and the little boy said "I thought you were the ice cream truck"!
