Colder here. What's your temp? What ya burnin?

Warms engine block, my fuel tank sits on top of engine so warms it also.

 

My tractor has an air gap and sits to rear. The engine would have to be really hot to transfer any use able heat to my fuel. Also my fuel filter is mounted t the block but by a bracket and it hangs in the air so the could air around that small bowl I would think would negate the heat transfer through the bracket from the block. But there all different. It just wouldn't help mine is why I made that statement. Now if I wrapped the whole front of my tractor in a blanket to keep air out it might help after a long while.

 

clemsonfor, I understand, couple of years ago MasterMech said some 30% of wear on diesels motors was until they warmed up.. Me being cheap person that I am, took him at his word and below freezing it gets plugged in. I also have glow plugs.. I might get different fuel here than you, IDK, but bota has started at 35 below.

 

Yea I'm sure cold starts are hard on them it's hard on gas too.

I think we get a winter fuel down here..but our guys are not use to it. I look after loggers, as a forester. And when it gets down to single digits and low teens you have guys swapping and ll the filters, breaking out the torches to warm the filiters up to melt ice, and lots of drained batteries from failed starts. And some crews just giving up and going home after they can't get anything to start.

already had a pine fire, loading up with red maple.
We had a few deer when the white oaks were dropping acorns a few weeks back but I haven't seen any signs of them at all the last couple of weeks.
It's bow hunting season but rifle season doesn't start until, I think, the 26th.

 

We got about 6” and it was heavy at the end. Supposed to be in the mid 40’s today before it cools back down again. Good day to burn the coals down and remove some ash. Pine in the stove this morning

 

32 here slop from other day still melting ended up with 6" of snow just added to the mud but hickory in the wood furnace 75 in shop alls good as for the cold starts on the tractors well when its real cold Ineed a personal block heater to get movin some mornins but cold still beats 90 and humid in my book

 

it's 27 f here and Oak and Pine are in the stove now. The ground is frozen here so we don't have mud under the snow thankfully.

 

Oil furnace acting up so the wood stove had to go it alone.

 

31 and windy, relaxing in the shop and reheating some coffee. Local wood but will top with a nice selection of imported Oak from Oklahoma.

 

tonight we have frost, and tomorrow night but sun out all day tomorrow.
