They are Already putting too much Unnecessary tech in the cars they building now , thus Adding unnecessary cost .
Most people have to have a car, It is necessary , if They keep adding all this unnecessary crap Some people won't be able to afford a car anymore .

I don't want a car that someone can control From a computer keyboard

I am looking forward to self driving cars when I turn 80! Until then I’ll take the wheel.

Ha! I bet they would be good for my next door neighbor, in that aspect. Not been much for common sense and ability/initiative since I've know him and his driving skills have deteriorated to the point of slumped behind the wheel with just a blank empty stare facing forward with that steady progress without any head movement at all. Same as when he backs up....just kinda goes by feel! :picard:

We stay out of the way when we see him coming!

I generally enjoy driving...and love cars. What I don't like is traffic. I'm sure I'm not alone in that thought process.

My wife and I head north just about weekly....same route, same time. In general, it's the same delays. And often, for no reason. It's amazing how someone tapping their brakes can cause a multi mile long slowdown.

I think we'll see self driving cars in the next 15 years or so. The biggest hurdle is getting from now, to fully autonomous. The toughest part will be having a mix of regular and self driving cars on the road.

As much as I like driving, I wouldn't mind being able to let the car take over on our weekly trips up north and back. That's about 4 hours of time I could be doing something semi productive....or just blathering here. ; )

I was 'promised' flying cars back in 1989 by the movie Back to The Future Part II. I have no use for a self driving car...but a flying car....yes please.

Maybe they can work on building a self loading wood trailer? I’d buy that before a self driving car.

The insurance companies will be who to watch, if they think driverless cars are safer they will push for them. I’ve heard that lobbyist now write legislation for politicians. I’m sure there’s one heck of an insurance lobby!

That’s a real problem already. It’s hard to customize the new vehicles because of all of the sensors on them.
