Good question ,I don't know . I do know they have had accidents with them and one of the Uber cars mowed down a girl on a bicycle and killed her
I no they have had trouble with them crashing but even with that being said it would be safer than some people on the road.
Nope, not for me. Aside from annoying drivers, I enjoy driving too much to let the computers take over. That being said, I also enjoy driving quickly, on back/twisty roads. Let's me know I'm still alive. I don't mind winter driving either, I go slower, but still feel the "edge" at times. Can't say there's been anything I've turned down driving if given the opportunity. Besides, I have "control issues", so letting the machine dictate the terms is not really acceptable. Who wants to be rolling on down the road when their MS® based vehicle experiences the Blue/Black screen of death. Nope, not for me.
There talking about cars with no steering wheel Available to take over . You grab your cell phone And use it like a steering wheel
only if we can get pizzed drunk and ride, but no, I don't even want a car newer than 2004. The less sensors and computers the more I'm about it.
Seems peculiar to me that people would buy a vehicle for themselves that has the ability to drive itself. May be an opportunity for some entrepreneur to start some sort of public transportation system. Oh wait....... I wonder if you could send the car to the store to pick up your grocery order?
Not for me. The new cars today have too much going on as far as technology goes. That drive assist is not for me. My wife has it on her Subaru and I shut it off everytime i drive. I got cut off on the highway one day and the car slowed down on it's own and it scared the chit out of me, not for me
I remember hearing predictions that by 2020 most cars on the road would be driverless. I scoffed and am still scoffing. I think perhaps they might have their place, but not at my place just yet, thank you.
What really is worrying to me is this new tech the Feds want to implement. Cars will talk to each other and act accordingly. Forcing us to wear seat belts is bad enough, ok fine. Than it was tire pressure sensors because people are too stupid to check their tires. Now they just want to take control of our vehicle from us. We the people just let them keep taking away from us all in the name of safety and for the children... I like tech don't get me wrong. Forcing companies to make their products safer isn't necessarily a bad thing either. anyway off my soapbox..
Good points. The less the gov't and big tech companies are in our vehicles and homes the better. There is too much sharing of information and intrusion into our lives. I'm all for safer public transportation and utilities especially what happened in our area a few weeks ago. There is AI in development for vehicles that can read your facial expressions and driving habits. A little too big brother for me.
No interest. The first we did on my fiancé new RAV 4 was disable all the blind spot monitors, etc. We thought the buzzing and flashing would be more of a danger than monitoring your blind spot, etc.
