Was 61ºF outside at 3PM this afternoon . At 5:30 it is now 47ºF and dropping fast. Pre-emptive fire of pine right now will be red maple by 6:30/7:00
High for tomorrow is about 36ºF. Next rain storm for Thursday is supposed to start off as snow. Will be our first snow of the year if it does. Blink and it will be gone.

Now that we're somewhat used to the cold, todays -5 C or 23 F felt really nice. Dogs enjoyed it, even snoozing in the snow for a bit. Not in a snowbank just on hard packed.:) Feeling a bit under the weather, otherwise I would have grabbed the chimney brush and shown that stack who's the boss. I really doubt it needs a scrub, but it always feels nice to give it a go, complain I didn't really need to, and then not think about it again for a while.

About 8" of heavy wet chit, accidents and power out everywhere, luckily we're back on. Heading down to 22°F tonight, a high of 16°F tomorrow, then down to 4°F with wind. Stove will be full tilt the next couple days.

High 20s here, feels good. White pine turning the trick in the IS. Used a couple splits of red maple for overnight last night to hold coals so I could get out fast in the morning - worked out beautifully! Morning reload was engaged, cat dropped and air throttled down in ten minutes with the strong coal bed to start it off with.

The mighty grizzly took care of it and teenage son did the labor of shoveling:D

Winds have me worried for now. Sustained only 25-35 mph. But gusts 55+ with this heavy snow on the pines- already hearing chit snap. Gonna be a long night.
