They actually changed the flow of the Brook (after the bridges went) with the approval of the DEC, but like you said, Mother Nature controls the flow.

Mother Nature has controlled the flow this morning! I was supposed to pour concrete in sonar tubes this morning, all 12 of my holes are flooded with at least 2 ft of water. I have to wait for the high water table to go down. Crazy rain last night, 2 inches in 12 hrs., then a nice wet blanket of snow. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

It looks like you received the same chit we did, stay high and dry. If I want to cut this week, I'll be heading up top where it's nice and dry.

Is the high ground up your way affected badly by the weather?

Some of the places on the river can flood if the Raquette River gets high enough, if the river ever reached us in the woods, hopefully we would have left.

We have areas of concern that the town watches when the weather gets like this, one of them is the Brook, it comes under state route 56 then enters the woods. The bridge on route 56 was blown out back when we lost 7 bridges, then the bridge I've been taking pictures of was next.

FINALLY got the kitchen countertops installed yesterday. I hooked the sink and cooktop up last night and for the first time in about a month we have a fully functional kitchen.

They look pretty sharp. I would have snapped a few pics last night but they were covered with kitchen paraphernalia that my wife is in the process is putting back in the cabinets. Hopefully I'll get some tonight.

Kids have their first baseball game tonight. After that I think I'll take the rest of the night off...maybe make a to-do list.

I thought I was done with firewood (for at least this spring) this morning BUT...since the storm rolled through yesterday it treated me to a large limb in my backyard and further in the woods a small group of 10" round ash trees. Looks like the C/S/S continues!

Incredible view there. My parents have been there and said it is difficult to grasp the size of the canyon. It looks prehistoric.

Those are my favourite! Especially if you use the butter twist pretzels.
