There is a thread about this elsewhere but just thought I would mention here on the wood pile. Just put new batteries in the smoke and C/O detector.

Good Reminders! Question, where is the best place to locate a CO Detector? How high off the floor or from the ceiling? (I have 9 ft ceilings). How far from the wood stove? I have heard and read contradictory information...would be good to know the right way.

If it's smoke and CO2, on ceiling because heat and smoke rise

Lots of opinions on this topic.

I have our CO detector in our bedroom, at pillow level. Bedroom is at opposite end of our ranch from the woodstove.

Other smoke detectors throughout the house. One up high in the woodstove room, Cathedral ceiling.

    All batteries swapped out

We keep a couple of plants in the house to keep the CO2 levels down.

Single purpose CO detector is about two feet above the light switch at the door in the bedroom.
There's also one in the basement hardwired to the boiler. I didn't know that one had a battery and had forgotten it was there . It beeps like mad when the battery goes low.
We refresh smoke and CO alarms Jan 1 every year.

Can never be to many threads about this . Checked my older fire extinguisher and just mounted a new one not far from the stove. New batteries in all smoke_c/o detectors.

I must have been in a daze or something........our larger one needs a charge, so I'll take it to the local HW and have that done soon.
