Delivered just means to the end of the driveway - dumped. He didn't say anything about stacking. After all, it is "wood" and fire wood, regardless if it is split or by grapple load, is routinely delivered and dumped

I don't think coal is dirty at all, but make the confession I have only burned anthracite coal and not soft or lignite coal either.

But assuming it is burning hard coal, it comes right out of the bag same as pellets, weighs the same per bag as pellets, and while the soot in the chimney is just black and not as brownish as pellets, it still is present. Better still, with coal there is no chance of a chimney fire.

My father's pellet boiler can burn coal/corn/or pellets, but it is an undershot boiler and not an overshot pellet burner like my New Englander. I have not really fussed with that enough to know if I can really get the blue ladies to dance with that yet. It has not really been cold enough to be motivated to try.

Some combination stoves burn wood better than coal, but the two I have are actually the opposite. My 1893 Bangor and Bishop pot bellied stove burns coal better, and my New Yorker WC 90 does better with coal as well. So it depends on each stove. I have modified a Wonderwood to burn coal, and that worked pretty well, but nearly blew up an old Vogelzang pot bellied stove when I tried to burn pellets in it.

But while this is a Firewood site, and I cut my share of firewood...for myself and to sell to others...it is by far the dirtiest way to heat a home. With dirt, bark, and sawdust falling off; where it is cut, split and stacked...no matter how many times; it makes a mess. It is the one reason my wife swears at firewood, and swears by coal.

    That was not my experience...
Wood was "messier", coal was "dirtier"..

No my sheep are not dumb, in fact very few sheep are. Rather they are vulnerable and do dumb things.

People often assume God compares people to sheep in the bible because of their intellect, but that is not it at all. Like sheep, we do a lot of dumb things, and are vulnerable to prey.

Myself, I only want the best for my sheep via proper nutrition, good hooves, a nice fleece; yet all my sheep do it run away because that is what sheep do. Funny how it is the same way with God. He loves them, and wants what is best for their lives, yet the run from him.

so, you dont deal with the average Mr Smith, and see how the interaction works between MA Gen Law 93A vs the consumer vs the vendor? If youre not very specific, youre absolutely going to lose.....crazy talk!

ah, but pellets arent firewood, and pellets cant really be "dumped", can they? Furniture is also wood......how thrilled would you be if it were dumped?

Was surprised when my local Home Depot was basically out of pellets last night. They had 1 ton outside, and some loose inside. Usually there are rows of them outside. Went a town away, and got FSU's. You could tell that they are chewing through there supply very quickly, as there are fresh marks from where they are removing lots of inventory. Cold has woken everybody up.

I think the NWS forecast of a warm winter is bogus, compared to my people I follow. Time ( and pellet supply ) will tell :)

Mother Nature must not have been told that yet because it certainly hasn't been warmer here.
