you should use some StaBil in the off season. lawn mowers, snow blowers, generators, etc. they all need some. if your gas in the gen is real old, pull the hose off the carb and drain it into a container.

Unfortunately I was remiss in putting Stabil in mine. I tried to start it Wednesday and was a no go. Starts right up with starting fluid but won't stay running. It's in the shop right now getting cleaned up. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to put gas with Stabil, Tru-fuel, 100 octane AV gas or 93 octane ethanol free gas in it when I get it back. I also need to get myself on a schedule to run it once a month.

Pretty much any gas will go bad after a length of time. Stabil is relatively cheap.....I never start the sn*w blower from it's last use in March, until October.

2-3 pumps of the primer and away it goes.

Which Stabil do you prefer. There is a red colored one and a blue marine one.It seems the blue one is more concentrated.

I use the red "Storage" version, but I'm sure the gold "360" ethanol version would work just as well. At the end of the season, pour whatever is the recommended amount for your size tank ( 1 0z treats up to 2 1/2 Gal.), rock the machine around some to mix it, and then run the engine at idle for 15 min. to get it all through the carb.

I add Star tron to five gallons of gas and use it on the 2 leaf blowers, lawn tractor and leaf vac. Also ad some to the Harley. No fuel problems in several years. My bud who does small engine repairs (worked at local Polaris dealership ) recommended it.

Highly recommend that the tank is either full, or very close to full too.

More vehicle maintenance scheduled for today once the rain putters out. Got to change the steering linkage on the pickemup truck. And a round of oil changes. Still waiting on my sn*w tires to arrive. Seems to be a shortage of them.

Maybe a round of leaves tomorrow?

The talk on using stabil or ??? in the fuel of stored equipment....

The best plan is to run the machine DRY and store it without fuel.

Come fall or when the unit is likely to be needed, then fuel up with NON ALCOHOL PREMIUM fuel.

Alcohol draws moisture and can/will corrode the internal parts of the carburetor.

I have see needle and seat assemblies stuck tighter than a bulls azz in fly time due to rust/corrosion from fuels with alcohol in them.

Normally a unit that's been stored dry will go right to work when refueled with zero issues....

if you simply run the unit with the fuel shut off, it does not empty the carburetor or the fuel line because of the negative pressure in the fuel line. if you remove the drain from the carb after use (if it has one and you can get to it) that's better.

:picard: I thought it was tools needed to service the carburetor, not toys.

    I love CL finds!

I got another ton of TSC's today. Already paid for it a couple of weeks ago since I needed to use a 10% off coupon. Took pity on the Explorer and did it in 2 trips instead of 1. Now have almost 4 tons in the house/garage (minus 3 bags). Still have one more ton being held at TSC for when I have room.
