-14c/7f at the moment. It was a beautiful sunny day with snow on the trees and the mountains after a dusting of 3-4 inches of snow yesterday. I have the stove humming along at 560f stove top with a full belly of larch for an overnight burn. The temp upstairs in the middle of the house is 23c/73f.

No, just plain sardines. They usually aren't flavored except you can find them in tomatoe sauce sometimes.

33 here. Trying to burn down some coals in the boiler. Probably go throw a few sticks of hedge on there later this evening.

House is nice and warm. Baseboards called for quite a bit of heat earlier this AM. Water temp inside still only got to about 130. Bring on the polar vortex...I'm ready.

4 inches, but cooler at 15 degrees. It will be a pleasant day to be framing under the sun

It will be in the upper 20s here Saturday morning, looks like the stove will be fired up tomorrow (Friday) evening. Looking forward to it.

Well, some of the big ones I have pictures of are still alive because I saw them this morning! Sad that I almost got a shot at one of them but the angle was all wrong. I'd have taken it with a rifle but not with the bow. I was hoping when he moved he'd go right in front of me (to my left a bit). That would have been a 20 yard broadside shot! Sadly, he turned before he got to that point. But what a morning! 19 deer and 8 were bucks.

Stove has been going for 24 hours straight now. Probably will stay that way for some time now too.

Sitting at a balmy -16 C feels -18 C, or 3 F feels -1 F and should warm to near -10 C later, but the wind will show up as well. Stove chugging along on poplar, same as always.

    Still too warm.
I would have to burn sticks in the stove for the morning chill on days like this.
I hate parting with 15¢ worth of oil just to knock the temps up about 5 degrees, but I hate running the stove and then having to open windows too.

The snow we got on Sun was almost melted completely, then mother nature sent in reinforcements! There's about 3" on the ground and more on the way.

The ponds and puddles are hard on the surface and the ground is starting to tighten up.

Like bogydave says.....time to switch over to black and white film for the cameras

40 out here and forecast to drop through the weekend. Seeing some lows in the mid 20’s. Burning chunks, uglies and shorties of red maple, ash, pine, whatever I got to get rid of. Have some more wood to bring up to the house and kindling to crack but can’t find motivation right now.
