I'm thinking Maple but everyone I've asked local has different thoughts... I've got lots of it and would love to know for sure what it is. Thanks in advance.

    Welcome aboard Ryan phillips

I don't have the answer you seek, but there will be others better suited to provide the answer.

Welcome Ryan phillips! Someone will be along soon to give you an answer. Unfortunately I'm not great at identifying wood by the bark yet.

    Don't think it's ash myself.

My first thought was Box Elder, but no red inside.

I can get some more pictures tomorrow and unfortunately I don't have any pics of the leaves and don't recall what they looked like before I cut it a couple months ago.

We have to wait? Ok, where's my ?
No pics before you cut? We don't ask for much.
If Maple or Ash, it'll dry fairly quick. Not likely to be primo for this year.

    Yep.

Sass here has reddish/burnt orange color to the underside of the bark. And of course the telltale root beer smell....

I had a root beer float tonight. It was delicious.

That looks a lot like basswood.

    Is it really light?
