I noticed the other day, "Had me sweating", thread, that my right front wheel started leaking gear oil. Had a good idea what had happened, did the same thing about 3-4 years ago. Pulled it apart this morning, inner bearing was busted, outer bearing was beginning to come apart, seal torn. I forgot to take pics as I was tearing it down, but will post some of the rebuild. Should have parts in Wednesday afternoon. I don't know why it would break like that, I don't move heavy loads with it...
Every time I get into the front hub/bearing/spindles on many/most tractors, I am surprised that things don't break more often, especially with a FEL on it. They often look "less than stout" to me...
I don't remember exactly, I ordered the bearings and seals online and mechanical shop where I work rebuilt it. I'm gonna do it myself this time, Ill get pricing with pictures.
Well, got parts in yesterday and started rebuild this morning. Parts cost about $80 and took about 1 1/2 to complete the job. Y'all like pictures, so I got plenty.
Nice! That wasn't bad at all. So are bota's pretty easy to work on? That looks like it was. However that bearing seems like it wasn't the best quality from the factory, especially since you replaced the other one recently. How many hours are on it?
I think it has 1600 hrs on the tractor. I talked to a friend on mine that is in the bearings business. He told me the replacement bearings made in Japan are great quality now, would put them up against Timken or any other brand. I do put some heavy logs on that loader. Yes sir, that part is easy to replace...
Mechanical break downs are just part of it. Good to see you got the bota back up and ready to go to work.
Nice fix! Imagine that would be a few bucks to have the dealer do it. $80 and an hour and a half isn't bad at all.
