I was offered a rejected load of firewood for 1/2 price. Load was rejected because it was to long. My stove will take 19'' max. and every piece I measured has been 18 7/8. I am behind on my wood cutting and said "why not".

I have stacked about 3/4 cord so far. Delivery was suppose to 3 to 3 1/2 cords.
I see 2 problems with the load.
    1) It was processed with one of them automated processors. There must have been some monster rounds. Some monster splits that I am running through my splitter.
    2) Probably 35% or more appears to be oak. Not all that bad of a problem, but was figuring on it being a hedge for next year and getting a good start on 2020.

I started out throwing the oak to the side and then my wife came out to help. First time she has shown an interest in the wood except for the warmth. When I explained the process she said, "I can't identify the wood." What the heck we will just stack it.
I figure I will separate it when I bring it up to the house.
I am stacking in 2 half cord rows. When I start the next rows we will separate.

Good, your AS will like that wood dry!! Oak takes time, look for some soft maple types in meantime.

Looks like a good deal. If you are resplitting some of it, split the oak small and stack it where it will get plenty of wind and sun, should dry a little faster.

Nice grab, at least you can take the time to sort it out like you said later and the stacking is merely a set up process.

Be interesting to see how much it stacks out to, it doesn't look like 3.5 cords to me.

Cmon up Roger. I'll trade you 4 cord of dry maple for two of the oak.

The oak splits will still be heavy next year.

I would separate it now too, but if a helper can't tell the difference then just getting it stacked is priority.

Motor home is a 1988 Cruisemaster. It was my dad's. When he gave it to me I was sort of figuring a project. Work got in the way and then it became a retirement project. Still haven't started on it. Should get rid of it.

Gut it, throw a few telephone poles underneath to hold the floor up, and fill it with wood!

(Tell me you all didn't think the same thing...)

Hopefully you will still make out good on the deal by getting 1/2 off even if its not as much wood as you were told.
