Seen this on Feebay the other night, had been one I was coveting for several years now, they don't show up very often. This should arrive later this week sometime.....Very reasonable price - a fraction of what they normally go for in good condition....Have only seen 3-4 for sale in past 10 years or so.Popular with collectors of Vietnam War militaria,in addition to vintage chainsaw buffs. Last one I recall seeing sold was a New Old Stock military surplus model with original painted plywood shipping/storage box & tool kit, that was around $1200 or something outrageous back in 2o15. Some parts were repainted by a previous owner but looks pretty good.Missing the brass ID tag on top flat part of gearbox, plus the brass circle starting/maintenance instructions that was riveted to starter housing, otherwise this is period correct & complete.Even has the original waterproof spark plug boot which is the sealed unit for radio interference. 5.4 cube/88cc,same engine as the more commonly found Super 754 direct drive model, not real fast but tremendous torque. These were used in clearing trees for helicopter landing pads. 2 pics I found online show same model saw with the brass ID tags.
Found this also from different Seller - Original Remington 754G Field Maintenance & Repair 87 page manual published December 1966,$15 shipped.
What Backwoods said. Had no idea those saws existed in military dress. Nice job thistle ! That's an awesome looking saw.
Nice score, both the OP & new guy or as they would've said in that saw's era, the FNG. I hope to find one of those one day. I like the old Remingtons. As this is an old thread... ever do anything with it thistle?
