Warner 700 reg fee is better than 6% sales tax and you still pay 72 a year to register:eek:

Sadly, this didn't start with the incumbents in there now. I believe this goes way back and nobody ever challenged it. We are a ferocity of city replacement people here who retire and want to be near the shore! It used to be very conservative and quiet now "everyone" who doesn't like something complains and they get their tushy wiped clean... :picard:

Not bad. My truck was $1100 first time. Drops some every year for 5 years. Down to $300 and will stay there. Plus 5.5% sales tax on the $63k it cost. Oh and registration goes by sticker price and not how much you paid for it.

This is spot on. Unfortunately it is almost impossible to roll things back once it's on the books

Maine almost sounds like it's getting like NJ. My Truck new was $34K in 2009 and 7% sales tax and the registration is by weight here. 1/2 ton and up. I'm only a Ram 1500.

I got thinking hard about your quote! "IF" that were the case, I wouldn't have any problem because I realize things don't happen without a township or city having $$$, but A) be reasonable and B) they shouldn't threaten. This is not Nazi Germany and you need papers for every dam thing "INCUDING" taking a $#!T. But where's the H@LL is "Free part"?

I'm bowing out at this point. This site is too much fun for me to go Full Drudge... those of us armed with the facts will be just fine. We just have to grit our teeth and move on.

Dog registration fees are a sore spot for me as well.

Why do I have to pay for the right to keep a dog? I'm the one that feeds it, cares for it, pays for the vet visits.

People don't have to pay for cats, sheep, goats, etc, but get a dog and you have to pay.
    :hair::mad:

We lived here for about a year with our old dog when a vehicle pulls in the driveway, a guy gets out and comes down to the porch where wife and I are at. Dog barks at him the whole way.

Says he's doing a count of the dogs in the township, I tell him "Well, you found one", then he proceeded to inform us that she has to be registered. We were not aware of this, not that I ever planned to ask/volunteer the information as it's none of their business unless she were a nuisance animal.

The fee isn't much per year, but it still aggravates me.

Oh, when she passed, we had to take proof from the vet that she was deceased. Not sure how things would work out if she weren't euthanized by the vet.

Yeah, mandatory dog registration is B$

None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.

    Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

We don't have that kind of monitoring yet here, but speaking of papers.. I'm not a fan of the new federal ID to get into federal buildings starting in 2020.
We paid for those buildings, why do I have to present my papers to enter that building?
I did not pay the extra money when I renewed my drivers license for that "privelage" they can go fsck themselves.
Things will only change when a government for the people by the people is actually ran by the people and not billionaires, reality stars and lifetime politicians.

Sounds like a "road tax". Tax is tax.
