Just landed at Dulles airport in D.C. and did my usual check of CraigsList. Found this post, and was a little wary since there was no picture and wondered if it was a bunch of scrub wood. But I took the chance since it was close by and said it was stacked at the curb......scored! There’s mainly maple, with a couple of black locust and cherry branches, and a few cedar rounds.
I've been seeing that guy for a few years. I could easily borrow a ramp truck to get some, but I imagine it's full of rocks and dirt
The ones I've seen had a bazillion long beefy nails and hundreds of bolts in them. Filled and caked with mud.
Nope, he's not. I just wish more people that put up these "free wood for your hard work and overhead" ads understood what all it takes to do these jobs.

Here's one NH mountain man will like... live oak logs live oak logs - $10500 image 6 of 9 3456789 reclaimed live oak logs from the Charlestown Navy Yard from 1830. Stored for almost 100yrs in salt water then buried for 100yrs. This is the same wood that was used to build and maintain the USS Constitution.
I've never even paid one penny for wood going backs to the late seventies. I am not about to start paying for it now. Certainly not $10,500. But the history is pretty cool. Thanks for remembering the "Old Ironsides" live Oak story Midwinter
Midwinter , can you post us one more picture of the oldest (still) commissioned warship in the world. The U.S.S. Constitution, aka, "Old Ironsides". Work your your internet magic my friend!
On the 4th of July, when the U.S.S. Constitution sets sail on her annual turn around cruise, and since she is commisioned warship. All commanders of the Atlantic fleet receive the message that she is operational, and is on duty as part of the fleet. Sorry for the derailing of this thread. But I love history, and tend to be very patriotic.
In 2002, I was in Boston "on" the US Coast Guard pier with my Ship/Cutter while the Constitution got underway, It was an Awesome sight to behold. Thanks for the great pics Midwinter !
