I have front and side yard for the kids to play. I have to irrigate it or we would have sparse weeds. Just not enough rainfall and decent soil.

High of 55.9 °F today with lows expected in the upper 20's.
    Beautiful fall weather.
Put some alligator juniper in to heat up the house and will finish off with some cherry splits.
    Happy Halloween everyone!

Got to 58 with some sun here, opened the doors & windows for a couple hours to air out. Radiant heat warmed it back up quick. Little Silver Maple to keep the boiler going. I may have to put in a bypass loop.

Nice enough day hanging around +5 c or 40 F. Finally got all my outside the shed wood stacked and tucked in after some previous splitter action so it's good to sit now until next year or longer. Math tells me about 3.6 cord, although I stacked extra fluffy so air can reach it easier. No word of a lie, I went to take pics and it started raining about a minute later.

Thats -24c for us Canucks! I think Ive seen -8c/17f in south eastern bc so far this year. Its stands to reason that you would be colder than me in the Rockies but that certainly puts things in perspective seeing what you are getting. Our first heavy snow fall of 10" or so was almost a month ago but we seem to be going back and forth from fall to winter. I share your excitement for hard water season. I cant wait!!

I am in the Alaska range with the Wrangell mountains in my back yard. They are 8-9k behind me zodiac we are about 3 miles from the base.

We had a hot dry summer with drought conditions and now we’re talking about local flooding from too much rain. The deficit has been more than made up, and we have another 4”+ coming over the next few days. Just chilly damp weather with some downpours mixed in. Not looking like a lot of outside working days left before snowfall. Glad it’s mostly done! October was one of the wettest on record for us and we usually get at least half nice sunny days but not this year.
If this wet pattern continues we will get some snow.

Here's hoping for the snow, but not to soon! I've still got a couple of cords bucked up in the woods to get out before then.:)

50°'s next week, I think you are safe for awhile. Me, I'm setting up shop in the garage for some kindling cracking and bark peeling while it rains. I rethought the canopy idea, it's supposed to be windy too.

That 38 outside will be a heat wave in a month or two. Looking forward to the first posts of deep snow at your place!
