    Good morning all! Hope you’re all enjoying life. Going to reach 72* today here in NJ. Found this little bugger in some poplar I was splitting yesterday. Any ideas? Thanks FHC!

    I've seen them dozens of times over the years...they move on (or die) after you split/stack and the drying process begins.
    My neighbor heats with wood too, and has a bunch of chickens...he said any time he runs into these guys, or ants, the chickens come running!
    I cut up a standing dead Oak earlier this year that had a bunch of woodpecker holes in it...these guys were in the tree

    Flat head borers, beetle grub. They get in the wood after it's cut down, before CSS. CHICKEN candy...some I found one day splitting...chickens were running track when I dumped this pan in there...
