Chaz, you're well should have a tag number on top of it, that should be listed with a Department of Natural Resources in New York. That tag will tell you how deep the well is and how many gallons per minute it produces. should be available on the website. So at least you know the depth of the well.
Ok, perhaps I will rehash something somebody said. Did you actually check the pressure with a gage in the accumulator tank? They are sometimes sent with low pressure. Also you must have a cut in/out switch(low on, high off). The only kind I have ever seen around here is the square d variety. I keep a couple around for the house and submersible in the lake for the garden. Is this switch new? They are very adjustable with a regular screwdriver. Directions on the inside of the cap. If it is an old switch it might be bad. The diaphragms die in them. That pump should make enough pressure to pop your water lines. My 2 cents but I have been working with those systems since I was 10. Simple system but if 1 thing is off you want to kick the neighbors pumpkin...
Thx brenndatomu hadn't read that particular chart, but others just like it. Haven't pulled the pipes, but normal operation other than lower than normal pressure leads me to believe that it's not a pipe issue, but is likely a jet issue. Was not aware that you can back flush the jet, that will be placed first on the agenda when the time comes. Of this I was aware, but didn't plan to pull the pipes and swap system over. It would lower running costs, but at this point I'm invested nearly $1,000 in system repair. Rhetorical question, but thanks. The layout here would allow for gravity feed for toilet perhaps, but otherwise I'd have to dig a very large and deep hole to bury a cistern, and would still need a pump system. Just can't see the cost/benefit of such a system when I have two wells currently. If I had to "install" a well, that would be a different story. Each time I've had the system apart, no water draining of the lines occurred after the initial expulsion of massive quantities of water. The lines did not drain and/or empty. I dont really think it's a failed check valve. CBVT, house built around 1952, no tag that I've seen, and our septic system is not in any of the count maps either. We have rough idea of septic placement, but no-one knows exactly where. Another job for the tractor, since the system has not been cleaned out in 8 yrs now. That's a lotta Chit.
Yes, checked air pressure of old tank several times. I ensured the brand new tank was pressurized to 38 psi before I hooked up brand new pump. Replaced switch as item #1 on old pump, no luck. New pump came with new switch, so yep brand new. No problem, I'll gladly accept $.02 As to the pumpkin, I'm more of a shotgun guy. Much more satisfying.
Funny that! One time I got my cell phone bill of $1200!!!! I went straight to Verizon. They informed me it was a black tablet that had been broken for a year. I left and came home and sat both kids on the couch. Who has the black tablet I asked. My daughter said she did and went and got it. She had been using it for social media and somehow figured out how to make the broken charger work. It was before unlimited data. I opened the front window which is a side to side slider. Grabbed my 20 gage leaning in the corner which stays fully loaded. Threw the tablet out the window and pretended it was a green head landing in decoys. All shots connected and the 3rd shot hit just as it hit the ground. I had my son go get it and I put it on the kitchen table for many months!!! Haven't had a problem since...
Thanks for the advice and input guys. I'm certainly not trying to diminish any of the help offered, it's just that I've run the circle in my head a million times, and each time I end up back at the jet assembly. I don't see a cost benefit to abandon current system this far in, but IF another problem occurs, the system will be replaced rather than repaired. As it is, I believe that I have one fully functional jet pump sitting around looking for a purpose to it's meager existence. Don't need two fountains.
Not since he lowered the settings. Right now, everything runs properly, so I'm gonna leave it alone for the winter. Honestly, I've had my fill of it for the moment. As long as everything runs properly, I'll deal with the lower pressure. Next year though, different story.
This is a pressure problem. If the switch was set at 60 the pump would run till it got there. The switch is telling the pump to stop. If it's not stopping then u do have a leak. Climbing off soap box... I won't beat a dead horse anymore... Just run around in the shower to get wet. Water is so hard here ya gotta wear a helmet in the shower...
Ah, but there's the problem, pump is not providing 60 psi of pressure while running, only about 45 psi. Therefore it cannot pressurize the system to 60 psi, reaching cutoff pressure. Something not mentioned yet, but one of the first things I did was to take off the rear cap and ensure pump was set for 230V as that is what is at the outlet. Well, I'm pretty good at that myself.
Not fair, chainsaw helps me keep warm all winter. Running water keeps mama happy. Mama's happy, and chainsaw runs, no problems here.
So true, but I've survived off of "Hobo bath's" before. I will say, I love a good hot shower with enough pressure to be nearly painful, but I've dealt with far worse than this. Minor inconvenience that will be rectified in the future.
It does have what they call a "control valve" that is supposed to screw in to increase pressure, but it will jet water out before it seals off. Not sure what to make of that other than.. I also hope the jet doesn't get worse, perhaps it'll clear on it's own, but I'm not sure that'll happen.
...and...how are you making out? All rain up here in Central NY. Really sucks for any outdoor work...and with the time change this weekend there is little opportunity to do anything outside...I feel for you. I have to replace the Cable on my front mouth snow blower for my big tractor for the chute control, gonna suck doing it in the rain, and it has a three ways double pully system - crap design, didn't need to be engineered that complex, thanks JD.
Hey shack Things are "well" here. Thanks for the concern, but not to worry, things are as good as can be. Sounds like you've got your own headache to deal with. Yeah, been wet as this summer in Pa. here lately as well, but fortunately we live well above any potential flood levels. Hope you get some decent weather to work on the snowblower, will likely need it soon. Planning to put the plow on the quad very soon myself.
Amen! We are getting pelted with RAIN...can't do fire wood at all! I got a JD with a cab/heat/FEL/mower deck and Front Mount shaft driven snow blower. I have 1/4 mile drive way, this is the tops compared to the old back blade! Never new how good it could be. Our average winter is 130 inches of white stuff. Lately we have been at 150 +. As long as I have my Fisher BabyBear I am wonderful. One good thing about all the rain, no shortage of water for most wells and the streams. I have family out West, they are always hyper about having water and paying a lot of $$$ for it...I tell them it's called a 'Desert' for a reason....okay, they have a lot more sun and it's a lot warmer...hard to enjoy the warmth when you ain't got much water though.
