It could be a good deal. Kubota Engines are on everything these days, like my engine for instance, could be found on a Miller Welder/Generator. That means with a little digging, used engines can be thrown in as replacements. We have done that on tractors many times. For instance throwing in engines for buses on our international tractors, and switching a diesel Ford tractor to gasoline.

Love the grapple Spencer! What size is it, 55”? I’m looking at one for spring. Already warned the finance committee lol. The EA 55” wicked root rake grapple looks like the best for my needs.
How do you like yours? Any Pros/cons yet? Nice 3039R also!

Thats the grapple i have on the 3039! I really cant imagine tractor life without it now. It was well worth the money.
The background of my use in order of time spent using the grapple is:
    Cleaning up downed tree tops
Putting logs on the sawmill and moving/stacking them around the yard
digging up small tree stumps and associated roots to clear an area (think 1-3" range max)
Cleaning up small trees off the side of the trails
moving all kinds of things to the burn pile
Cleaning up old firewood piles where the bottom part of the stack became part of the ground (pretty labor intensive before).
Cleaning up all the scraps off the edger and sawmill

    Pros:
    Its light
It has plenty of "closing" force. I have picked up a roughly 2000lb red oak stem with it. The loader was the limitation.
It works good for digging up small roots and stumps as it doesnt "plow in" to far because it has that bar that limits depth.
    So far, it seems unstoppable.

    Cons:
It would be nice for it for open up farther, but for 95% of what i have done, no issue at all.
The deere quick connects for the loader are really close to the grapple cylinders and kinda need to be narrower (the actual part that you lift it up with, not the pegs). After hooking it up a few times, seems like i have the knack, so not a huge drawback.

Also i know this is a kubota thread, but the 3039 is a amazing machine.

Thank you for the great review! The JD quick connect is wider and im a little surprised they offer the 55” in that design since it’s so close to the width of the mount plate. Isn’t JD around 50”, where the universal mount is closer to 40”? I think that size seems to be about right for most tasks though.
I’m sure the 3039 is an amazing machine.

Intresting that the Yarmar engine is a 1.6 L 3 cylinder engine to get 39 HP. The 39 hp Yarmar uses a 2.L 4 cylinder in their own tractor to get 39HP.

Just measured them and they are 45" to the outsides, so you were close. I am not really sure why you would need a grapple much wider than 55" to be honest (for this size frame). It is something that has not been a issue so far.

Turbos work incredibly well on small diesels, especially when you’re running a constant rpm. They produce a ton of hp with very little extra weight and no really appreciable added engine stress. I rebuilt a lot of them back in the 80’s that had already run for countless hours or miles, and usually they failed only when run low on oil. I’ve seen them outlast an engine many times, especially running synthetic. That’s a nice setup!

    Bump.

I gave the L48 a little bit of a workout today. 30 inch Red Oak stump was in the way of my new lean-to.

Mine is an MTL. Seems well built. I bought it for moving rocks, logs, brush, and broken concrete. My only complaint is that it doesn't open wide enough. Needs a little redneck re-engineering

    I
I could've picked it up if I could've got it deeper in the bucket. It only would get It 6" off the ground. I just pushed it deep enough in the woods and left it.
