I see. We just grew up burning mostly oak down here, some hickory. I going to try out beech and holly as we have plenty on our property. Hope you are doing well.
Even the oak lumber was semi-wasted. I sawed it into 6 x 6 posts and was going to give it to the town to use for road signs. I thought that would look nice; a nice wooden post with a finial on top, wooden lettered road names...stylish...New England charm. Nope. The federal 911 road naming rules stated road signs had to be steel posts with green names and reflective lettering so EMS could read them at night. They were used as oak timbers, but not as road posts.
We should arrange a trade then; Spruce for Oak? But thanks for wondering about my health. I am holding in there. Drs are still having fun prescribing stuff, but nothing seems to be improving. The timber theft issue is still in a holding pattern. February 24th is the next big date, I should have my money by then, or he will be going to jail. I did see him drive by the house the other day, but he did not wave when he went by...did not even look. Sad. I have done many things in my life that were wrong, but made amends as best I could, and can look at anyone in the eye. Hopefully he will get help for his addiction and find a way to regain his integrity.
I have done the same, we only had a few white oak on our place I will be glad when that issue is settled. And I hope the Drs can find a combination that works. We know the HEALER, so I will be praying that HIS TOUCH will be on you.
We had some 30 year old cedar shingles replaced on the south side of the house a few years ago. Just out of curiosity, I hit it with my MM. 16%. Can’t think of a way that wood could have been more dry than it was.
I was thinking the same thing but am such a noob and not familiar with that kinda of wood nor the conditions in Alberta Canada. Glad we narrowed it down to a possible moisture meter malfunction....!
This one got between a hard spot and a harder spot on the back swing of a firewood chuck. I can still bend it... kind of. Shouldn't slow me much it's just that little one hanging out on my left hand. I've got nine spares for now.
