So you guys really heat your homes with wood?

Just think of the mass alone, tires are not lightweight by any means. There is a reason they tell you not to drive alongside semis on the freeway.

A semi truck spun one off many years ago in front of me and I was boxed in by traffic so nowhere to swerve... I figured my best option was to let it go under the car. I caught one front wheel and it actually caused my car to come of the road on the passenger side. When I pulled over after hitting it, another driver pulled over having been behind me, asking if I was OK. She said that my car had come up so far on the right she thought I was going to lose control. Lost the nose piece, the front spoiler, bent an a arm and busted a radiator mount.

You are genuinely lucky to have not rolled over.

 

So true there Suburban wood snob , funny you say that-a car pulled over @ 200 yds in front of me to assess their damage to the front of their vehicle, apparaently wasnt enough for them to put in reverse and come collect my insurance info-they just moved on-Fortunately, I instinctively knew not to apply the brakes, I was boxed in too in 5 o’clock traffic, didn’t know what had happened and just decelerated and made my way to the berm, slowly-If it had been a front tire, all bets were off and I count my blessings...had I lost control, a 9,900 lb truck could have hurt others—-can always be worse so I’m thankful beyond thankful

Perhaps it's the fact that I've been injured so often that it's become second nature to me, but I guess I just assumed that we all know to watch for the telltale red streaks that signify serious infection.

I don't go to the ER however, I've been known to "self-repair", which means, "bust it open and clean it out".

It's funny/ironic, my parents said when I was really young I'd freak out if I saw my own blood, was OK with other peoples, just not mine.


Kinda makes sense, I always figured mine should stay inside, like it's supposed to.

But, as I got older, bolder, and not any smarter
I saw more and more of my red fluid. I used to joke that I could tell the sight of my own blood from other peoples, I just "knew".


Fighting infections has become much of a second nature to me.

Wish you'd caught it sooner, would have seriously helped your situation and healing.

 

Feel free to do your own research on this, but it is the rear blowouts that are most Dangerous. If you lose a front, the result is degraded response to steering inputs...more Understeer. Loss of the rear tire otoh, often upsets the stability of the vehicle and can cause dramatic increase in oversteer. It sounds counter intuitive I know... But it's real.

I’m truly sorry about your summer and the issues with azz hats stealing from you.

 

firestone transforce f350 70 mph the belts in all four tires started squirming around under the tread. i had been chasing a steering issue for a year + prior to this. None of the shops the truck was in caught on to it either. actually drove truck back to my shop " slowly" on the carcass. pulled remain tires . One of the front ones had a knot of twisted belt under the tread. entire tread of the back one peeled off. whole quarter panel wrecked exhaust system trashed as well. Fortunately it was the passenger side fuel tank on other side do not even want to think what could have happen if it was the drivers side.
Glad you were not injured in that particular event sad to hear about the rest of it though- dang low life scum bags- just as bad around here - manged to catch a couple never any compensation- a year ago the sob's stole my new to me little SUV- when I got it back it had become a subcompact sedan. Hopping mad is an understatement- compounded by the LEO indifference ( which I am pretty use to nowdays but of course just more fuel on the fire).

 

Have you replaced the bed yet? I vote for a flatbed if you still need to fix it.

 

I have seen this kind of damage on new campers because of the crap tires that come from the factory. Surprised to see this on your truck tires.

 

I see you’ve been right where I stood chris , glad you emerged unscathed too-Good to hear from you and OhioStihl (yes, new bedside) and old buddy NH mountain man - Missed this place and so glad to be back-thanks to all of you, I’m not surprised at all really though, its what we do in this special place, look out for our own-

One thought-Remember how just a few years ago the “Zombie Apocalypse” was just entertainment? Where I am and I know many of you are as well, the Backbacker Bicycle Riders are just that-They are truly that whacked out on drugs, be it meth, heroin and synthetic opiates-I hate the LE indifference as much as all but these people take up virtually all their time-Not justifying, just lamenting what a sad world we live in-We have lost most of the last 2 generations to the drug scourge-Grandparents and Great Grandparents are raising young children-Remain vigilant, protect your property and loved ones at all cost because they, the backpack bikers, truly have nothing to lose...I am not trying to start a political or social debate here, just want my brothers and sisters to be careful-Every person I know in a rather large social circle knows someone or has been directly affected by this pandemic. Not a new thing been around along time already- I've had to let people go because of their problem, which made it very un-safe for other employees. I 've also had issues with illegal entry at my shop in more than one location over the years, as well as" if we can get in the vehicle it must be free crowd" as well. They have no morals to speak of and anything and everything is fair game as far as they are concerned, but boy do they squeal like stuck pigs when they get tagged. Like some of us I have had firewood theft problems as well, a totally ignored subject by the local leo organization.

 

I understand completely chris, I have over 200 employees...its a mess-I appreciate all and motion we let this thread die...thanks for all the well wishes, many have it much worse and I’m just glad to be back among friends and like minds...Me? I’m just worried, but yet still hopeful, that Backwoods Savage has finally figured out the obvious about splitting rounds...that would help out a lot That would cure a lot of ills..... Here’s the Beast today with the new bedside and tires...on the farm where Sat I will remove the top of the stolen walnut from the road-I estimate half a cord from what the thieves left behind adding insult to injury blocking the main access route onto the acreage...My next pics will be of hoarding on a different thread-Take care all!
