Same here, that stuff makes some fantastic kindling! I use a handful of that combined with a chunk of super cedar or fire starter, makes is super simple !

We for years and years used newspaper for starting fires. We never got many newspapers but always enough. Then it got to the point where so much of the paper was colored and so much glossy that we simply rarely use it now. Once we found Super Cedars, we've used that since. The best part is that starting the stove has always been my wife's bad part as she struggles. With the super cedars she can now light a fire and get it going.

The nice part of using newspaper is that it heats the flue much faster than it ordinarily would heat which in itself helps much in getting the cold stove going because it increases the draft right now.

Never use news paper. I make my own firestarters from noodles. I do not like the smoke that comes from news paper if the draft is not going right away.

Who reads newspapers anymore? Since main stream news became mostly fake or biased reporting I stopped my subscriptions about 20 years ago. Today they are basically gossip and rumor rags and not worth a penny to me. It sucks because a few weeks ago we had a big steamed crab feast and no newspaper to spread all over the table Haha! Like NYCountry I always save my log splitting byproduct. Any odd fly offs or bad aim splits go into a kindling bin. I will occasionally use sales circulars or my local towns news bulletins, but once winter gets rolling I hardly ever need start up fuel since I basically run the stove 24/7.

    Mapp gas torch.

At my grandparents house we had to roll newspaper and tie the rolls in knots for grandma to use as fire starters.

When we cancelled our daily subscription to the local substandard Times they started sending it in the mail free twice a week. There must be enough profit in the advertising flyers inserted in it.

Melissa works at a High Rise Community for rich folks,, she brings home a full grocery bag of stacked newspaper about every month. Most residents remove the gloss :D.
Between my F.I.L. and my neighbor, we all have enough starter paper to last YEARS !

Newspapers here (non-glossy with the lease amount of color possible) along with splitter scraps and branches picked from the yard during the summer. I also use the cardboard rolls from used paper towel / toilet paper when available.

Used to use newspaper but no longer. I don't even get an newspaper anymore just use my ipad

For shoulder seasons I use cedar fencing cut up into 6 or 8 inches lengths.
Usually do 3or 4 milk crates on a summer day and put them away till fall.
I pick them up when people cut up fence sections and put them out for the trash

3 or 4 pieces split up with some small splits around it.
No matches either. Propane torch with elec ignition is the best.
Once Nov hits fire doesn't go out till March.

We use splitter scrapes, toilet paper rolls and I like stuffing them with a mix of lint and shredded paper. We also use newspapers but it is the end roll of the paper this has not been used to print the paper. You could probably just buy it from your local paper.
