I would have never bought a hedge trimmer, but we get a lot of blackberries that grow alongside the barns right below the gutters.

THE BIRDS SIT ON THE GUTTERS AND POOP :hair:
This creates a line of berry bushes all along the sides of the buildings.

Trying to get rid of them is a pain.

Back in August I got the idea to try a hedge trimmer, and since we had Ryobi it was a no brainer..

The trimmer hacks the vines real easy and we then just rake the stuff away from the building far enough to run over the stuff with the 3 point mow deck on the tractor.

One large battery handled the entire job on the 100 foot span along the end of the arena/stable

Beat the heck out of fooling with a hand pruner and one vine at a time.... :(

Plus after getting into an old coat and heavy gloves I was able to just go at it like I was killing snakes....

I think the convection blower is going. I thought it sounded weird the other day.

Same here. My stove a lot of the time gets cleaned when it acts up unfortunately. I try to keep a chronological schedule but many times burn way more or way less than expected. For instance this Oct. has been unseasonable warm as well as we went back to the better pellets that burn much cleaner. It is what it is, here anyway.

I have the string trimmer, which is the only thing that I have to worry about a battery running out. I got the hybrid so I can plug it in if needed. Haven't ever used that feature, and it would be a pain to get pull along an extension cord, but it is always nice to have options.

That is good info right there. The swamp is overrun with wild roses and they are always trying to encroach over the fence. I've been hand pruning, but those thorns will go thru almost any glove out there (pig skin, mule skin, cow skin etc). I might just have to go ahead and add to my Ryobi repertoire!

They are burning like a champ for me, grabbed a ton and one armed them down to the cellar last weekend. They burn hot, about half the ash of the blended MWP very consistent pellet on the shorter side 1/2" and very little fines. All in all a great pellet ! (these are bagged in the Down East bags)

Curious on how long a bag lasts. Higher heat output caused by shorter pellets (shorter = more pieces in the burnpot) ?

Actually, blower is fine. The igniter is dead. I didnt think it was the igniter because there were no unburned pellets in the pot. It must have died right after lighting, popped the fuse, and burned itself out.

I ordered another blower anyway, along with the igniter. Figured I should start stocking parts anyways.

I never had an igniter fail and blow the fuse. Has anyone else?

Bag was lasting a day yet they are not quite as short as the LaCrete I just tossed into the hopper. Settings were 3 /3 2/2 to keep the old house dry and warm. Cleaned the stove today and was more buildup than I had anticipated, yet nothing that would be to concerning while burning at a low rate.
Solid pellet for a lower price although where I get them form LaCrete’s are only a few dollars more a ton, so I will be getting them instead. They were much cheaper Pre-season.
Today’s score with the dang wind and all day rain had to get er done with a tarp while slow and careful as I taint going back under the knife I got it done as I really needed to.

Got the oil changed in the blower today. Brought it into the garage from the shed while it was snowing. Ran it for a minute out in the driveway to warm up the oil, drained it, then ran some clean thru, drained that, then filled again with clean oil.

Didn't put the blower back in the shed, it is now keeping company with pellets, car and bike (and various tools and misc stuff)

About time to call them and have them pick up the bike since it doesn't look like Mother Nature wants to do anything but sn*w in the mornings then change to cold rains (as opposed to the heavy, impenetrable fog in the morning during summer). In order to get the bike out now I would have to move both the car and the blower. Good news is the pellets aren't in the way :D

Progress is slow and steady as today I placed the roof sheeting on the trusses.
Had to make some temporary extended end facia adjustments to compensate a error on my part which I will redo in Spring. I still have to cut the final two sheets along the house, place the remaining screws and ridge vents.
Got to closeup the mudroom and add insulation to the basement and floor for winter.
