Found two blow downs close to our house that we cleaned up today, got one about 10 miles from home to do next week. Glad it cooled off some. The two trees are water oak, the big one is post/white oak. Got one trailer load of logs and almost a load of bigger limbs. Hauling the logs out with the FEL and tongs. I'll post pics of the other tree as we clean it up.
Is that from the hurricane Jeff? Some nice looking wood! You getting the rain this morning or is it north of you? We’re getting it this weekend, our first nor’easter but with mostly rain after a snowy start. Supposed to be some big winds too.
Yes sir, it helps a lot. Keeps logs pretty clean, and sometimes I can even hook a log in thick stuff without having to get off tractor.
Not this past storm, it blew down back in the late spring, just waited out the cottonmouth moccasins and ticks.
Only dumb question is the one not asked......It is classified in the red oak familyat the mill. I took a couple pictures of a big water oak at my mom's house today, to give you an idea...
Finally able to go get the last big white/post oak blow down next to the brick house. Had our friend's son help us with it. We hauled a trailer load of limbs to his house and to trunk to ours on Monday. Took about an hour to cut that pile of limbs up today with the 029 bow saw. She is running sweet since the new carb. Put a new chain on the pole saw and trimmed that tree up. Grateful that we never hit the chain link fence that tree was lying on.
