Back left is locust, back right is cherry, way back is silver maple IIRC and all wood in the foreground (split/unsplit) is silver maple.

I also concur. I half about 3/4 cord of maple in the back yard that needs stacked yet and I'm procrastinating.

    Nice cache of wood, MM.

In regards to the stacking issue, I have around 10+ cord of Norway maple, white oak, red oak, cherry and birch that are already split and you guessed it.....need stacked!

Should have the shed ready in three weeks so it won't be too awful bad. Gonna try to do at least a half cord per evening after work once the shed is built, will take almost a month.

    TRUE! So very, very true!
I was just thinking of making a plywood panel with a handle to stack against as I go so the face that I see from the house will be flat.

I'm jealous of that pile. Wow! I'd call that a season's worth of work and more than a season's worth of wood.

I don't find stacking so bad as long as the wood was split right where it needs stacking. Pick th up split up one or two steps and place it in the stack. It gets old fast humping the splits across the yard.

Stacking is the part you get to look at & admire for a long time +
Take pictures of so we can rant & rave of how good the stacks look.

Not to mention so the wood don't lay there & rot .

Just think how good it will feel every time you
look at several cords of stacked , seasoning firewood !
    & realize "it's yours". :)

I should be back up over my 3 year goal of 12 cords once all that is stacked. There's 6 cord of red oak on the racks in the way waaaay back of that pic.
