Here she is in all her glory, 25 yrs and still going strong. I love it when I bring in a big, no really big chunk of wood in and my wife say's "No way will you ever get that in there,"ha ha After that comment there is no way I won't get it in there. Great stove's, I let one get away from me one time kicked myself every since
That stove is a keeper in my book! 25 years and going great!...that is value and it has paid you many times over I am sure. Thank you for sharing!
Your right, I just ask my wife this morning, how many thousands of dollars do you think that stove has saved us in heat? It has been a good one, never had to replace the glass, just clean the chimney every now and then. Down town at the fire dept they said i clean my chimney a lot more often than most people. I reply ''i don't want you guys rolling up in front of the house for a flue fire, thats why i do it.
There are a lot of quality pre-1996 stoves around that provided (and some still do) excellent heat for homes. Our first stove during the lean years was a Schrader "Queen" I believe it was. It did not have glass in the doors. Instead there was a screen attachment so you could view the fire while the doors were wide open. I was building a modest home for myself and my new wife and remember putting the stove in temporarily to keep heat for the sheet rock taping to dry. I recall sitting on a packing quilt on the sub floor in front of the crackling stove. We had a picnic (in "Our House") of cheese and tuna sandwiches heated in tin foil on the ash tray in front of the stove and a bottle of wine! To this day the smell of a freshly taped house brings back a flood of memories for us both! B.Brown you have a great old stove there and I imagine it can call up lots of pleasant memories for you and your Wife also! On a cold blowy day, grab the Wife and a couple glasses of something and sit in front of your stove and reminisce about past good times in the circle of it's warmth and glow!
I have the same stove minus the glass...just a solid steel door. It was here when I moved into this house and heated it for 8 or 9 years without a single hiccup. I retired it after last season for a OWB. I'm not sure how I'm going to get that beast out of my basement, so it may be down there for a while.
Amen to that! I don't think people will get the length of service out of too many of the 'new' ones like many of us have had with our old ones.
Haha Your so correct it brings back lot's of very fun memories!!! I should add, this is our second Blaze King. Both have served us very well. I still have the solid door for it out in the garage. I've never put it on the stove, we really enjoy watching the fire.
