    Wondering if it all has the red coloration. All that I have seen or cut has.

    Some boxelder is very white like willow. Some I've cut has lots of blood red that quickly fades to oxidized brown. The first clue that its willow vs box elder is the cambium ring. Thick for willow very thin for boxelder. Also shortly after cutting willow turns that bronze color like aged chestnut or almost like red oak.

    Every one I've ever cut had bright red heartwood streaks.

    damm. I normally cut these down and shove them into a hole or fire pit!
