So for those who have followed my firewood progression this year here's my latest update. Started delivering 5 weeks ago and after a grueling weekend I have calculated my sales. 95 cords sold and delivered over that time including my most productive weekend this year at 22 cords completed today. I have about 15 cords left which means I have more wood than I thought which makes me happy. All of that is spoken for and I've started turning people away. Here's a picture of an OWB load that I just picked up recently and the miles I've put on my dump truck since I started delivering. He took 4 cords total. The rest was all 16" normal split size.
Wow that was quick for 95 cords !! Send those extra customers my way, I don't think I will run out this year !!
How much do you sell? I could easily sell 3x the amount I can produce. I've already turned down orders for roughly 15 cords.
That's 2.5 cords a day average. My arms would be hurting tossing that much wood a day up into the back of a truck. ( I've done it and messed up an elbow) I hope you have a conveyor or bucket to load with.
Tree guys, I cut some on my own, local farmers are always cutting/clearing somewhere, see it along the road, craigslist, people who know I sell tell others who've had trees cut, etc. I'm basically a wood whore and get it any way I can.
It's all hand tossed and it's all done on Saturday and Sunday. This passed weekend, I did 2 cords Friday after work, 8 cords Saturday, and 12 cords on Sunday. I do have a helper who helps me load when I'm in the yard and splits next year's wood while I'm out on delivery. I was pretty sore Sunday when I was done and I did drink a few more beers than I had planned once I got home.
