We have a safe and share the combo. She knows what they're for and how to use them.

Do you own weapons?? Yes but none in car.

Meh. Don’t take it personally. Standard questions. Don’t forget, it’s a fishing expedition for those guys. They’re looking for something, and sometimes they don’t know what it is until someone admits it.

I think it’s more than a fishing expedition at the border. It’s likely a required question, per policy. In that case it’s a sound practice and a reasonable question.

Have a number matching Yugo Mauser at my FFL. Awaiting my caress

A friend of mine belongs to a car club. They decided one summer to go to Canada. They had one guy in the club that thought he was the club clown. Always playing jokes and doing things that really started irritating some of the members. This was a antique car club, lots of old, old, fords, mostly restored cars. Many of them took parts with them so they could fix the car's on the way if they broke down. So, they pull up to the boarder, one of the border officer's asked the ''clown'' if he had any guns? The guy answered, ''yeah''. So, the border officer said, ''where are they'', clown replied, at home in my safe, and laughed.

Not funny, so, the border agent said, ''sir, please pull over between the yellow lines'', and they proceeded to empty the guys car, executing a VERY through search of his car, including opening every one of his parts boxes, and spreading them all over the area. Then they left him alone, from that point on, the ''clown'' stayed pretty quiet for the rest of the trip. lol.

B.Brown .. I had a friend like that, he decided it would be funny to tell border patrol when We were 16, and coming back from Montreal:emb::whistle:, There were drugs in the car.:loco:

Spent the next 4 hours on the side of the road with a screwdriver putting back door panels, seats, carpets, dashboard etc etc.

In a 67 camaro convertible.. We laugh about it at high school reunions. That day not so much.

*A Note of caution here folks* Not to get political, and I won't but after thinking carefully about this issue, remember that the world can see what is posted here and don't put out anything you don't want the public to see! It's a shame we have to be this way but people anymore go into a frenzy when guns or weapons are spoken of, especially with the political divide in this Country. I for one am a "Life" card carrying member but with that said just think before posting. Thanks, Dave. :)

"Every" gun was designed for war!!! If you go back in history and look, firearms were to "protect the home land and tyranny"! Hunting and gathering came after the fact with different calibers.

I was looking at a gun safe at Sam's club one day and one of the store associates said you must have a lot of guns if you're looking at a safe. I told him that was kind of a personal question....and I meant it.

Yes I got a “bring back” K98 a couple years ago, from a buddy. His uncle brought it back. Still on him to write a provenance letter.

BTW thank you for serving in the Coast Guard. My father clung to the keel of his boat for three days until a CG crew in a helicopter found him. Nearly killed him when they dropped a raft down, but it’s the thought that counts!
