This has been one bad year here. I got flooded out five times (includes the hurricanes); two hurricanes blew through, and a tornado near my sister's house. I have never seen so much rain here; I lost count. When I say floods, I mean floods. The Dan River (that is the one that flows through Danville, Va.) crested at 29.5 feet; the highest every and that was during Hurricane Michael. Sister one had an Eastern Black Oak to go down on her house. That wood has been cleared, cut and split and transported here. I still have to stack it. My younger sister had her centuries Eastern Black Oak to blow down in her back garden; it was at least five feet in diameter; maybe more. I don't know if I can get that wood because it is so far to transport it; it was cut by someone else and I was offered part of the wood.
It's always sad to see destruction caused by a tree falling on someone's house. I guess the one positive is you're putting it to good use by processing the tree. You gotta find any positive you can in that type of situation.
Yes; that is true. It also damaged a very large flowering cheery that we ended up taking down as well; it was much larger than they normally grow and in the spring it was gorgeous.
