My job sent me to Wisconsin for a week for training. A friend that I used to work with lives in the Green Bay area so I visited him and his wife for the weekend. I packed my saws and gear and he had some logs delivered for us to process.

This was my first time processing logs and it was a huge time saver. We css the wood in one day. It measured out at just a shade over 3 cords.

The next day we dropped a Elm and a maple, we got them processed fairly quickly and added to the pile.

While we were splitting the Elm it started snow. My first snow of the season and I was cutting/splitting wood. It’s going to be a good season. DCE8E094-9E10-431F-B563-B1FB1CC94DEB.jpeg

Looks great! What was your technique for bucking the logs? Snowing while splitting, does it get any better?!?!

Nice! Appears they are right on the bay. My folks have a cabin north of there on lake Michigan, I know the area well.

Hope they sent you home with some cheese curds, case of Hinterland , and a Packers jersey.

Good for you helping out friends. As a bonus you got to see the first snow of the year! And 3 cord is a busy day for sure. I hope you had time to celebrate.

Not really. Plus 1 if you get to into a warm cabin heated by a stove after you are done.

I love Cheese head land. Bluffs, flats, rolling prairie, woods, great beer, food and people who will party in frigid temps. It’s great in Wisconsin

When I cut wood I have to go to the tree, this time the logs were brought to me. New experience for me and I liked it. One guy on the splitter and I was on the chainsaw. When I cut too far ahead of him I would load up the splitter area with rounds then get back to cutting. I was cautious about the logs rolling when I cut them.

If it doesn’t get too cold we will stop in. If it does get too cold it will be just me. My wife doesn’t like cold temps.

That is a smaller local lake. They live in Bonduel out in the sticks, it’s very peaceful out there, other than duck hunting it was quiet.

Yes, I brought an empty cooler to Wisconsin for curds, smoked fish and beer. My sister even placed an order before I left for training.

Nice. Love it when wood shows up. When bucking, are you using a Timberjack to roll the logs or do you have another technique? I'm just looking for more efficient techniques to buck logs. Thanks for the response. Burn on.
