I picked one up last evening at Rural King and I'm going to put the wood floor and sides on it in the next day or so. I have a pile of used untreated 2x6's I'm going to use and then paint to add a year or two to the life of them. My reason for getting the carry all originally was a way to carry large rounds with the idea of rolling 2 to 4 on it to bring them back to the woodshed. I looked for images and videos of them and decided after looking at a few it might be more handy than the trailer I use and possibly use it most of the time.
I have the same thing and I built a floor and two "walls" on the side...so I can fill my bucket and stack the carry-all with wood to move to my boiler. Similar to what you're planning I think. I'll post a pic tomorrow, mine works great.
I have a carry all, bolted PT 2x8s on the floor and back wall where the top link is, then put sides on...very useful and can back it right up to where I want to stack it, saves a lot of time and lifting...got it before I got a FEL....had it forever it seems like, don't remember exactly when I got it, maybe 25 years ago?...I paid around 80 or 90 for it.
A carryall is a handy implement to have. I have one I use behind my sub compact. Some people have really decked out their carryalls. People add pvc tubes to the front to carry tools, or add a way to carry their chainsaws. Mine's very basic.
Got it done, at least for now, may have to add, subtract or modify. I'll find some outdoor paint to put on it soon. All of it is scrap lumber and all I had to buy was the carriage bolts and some lag screws.
Yes it is!...if you fill that carry all up and the FEL...doesn't it still make the front too light and bounce the front tires off the ground even at a slow speed?
Front & rear "carryall". About 1/2 cord. I know, I know, not exactly what we're talking about, but hey it works. Yours looks good bang !
You guys are all making me jealous. I wish I had a wood lot.....huge yard with outbuildings....tractor with all sorts of nifty attachments! Or any of the above. I sure like looking at all the mechanized toys!
It's fun, till you need a new set of tires, new radiator...lol...but it's something I love and feel fortunate to have...better than running around town for me.
Productive day, started at the big end of a sugar that's been down a couple years and I bucked it partially last year I got 3 loads before supper I'm going to try for 2 more before dark. Heres the small end This is where I'm getting the rounds in relation to my house. I was able to get 14 rounds to the splitter before dark.
No I haven't had any issues. I only move it about 100-150 feet or so, slow speed across level ground, it's worked great for that so far.
Here are a few pics of the 3 point carryall I put together last year. They are very adaptable to be purpose built to your application. For instance, I added some D rings for strapping things down. I've seen where some folks have added pvc pipes to carry long handled tools as well. I plan to make a removable sprayer rig for mine to use in feed plots. That way I can get it in and out of wooded trails where I couldn't transport boom arm rigs.
