Too good...one winter of that was enough ...that unit (Kuuma VF200) is now on its way to comanche79p and I am now running the larger VF100 wood furnace that will take my 20-22" long splits with no "re-sizing"
Nice. Shorties can pack the stove full. That's a load of red oak shorts about 10" long from a trimmed off block. Burned over 8 hrs.
I understand getting free wood cut to various lengths but why wouldn't you cut it to the length you need before you split it? Seems like a lot more work doing it after you've split it.
For me, just the opposite, heavier to handle & hard to hold & cut a few inches off rounds than logs & keep it straight . Then you have a bunch of hard to stack & split cookies. Maybe just individual preference.
Wow you have been busy, It's a whole lot better cutting a bunch at once You have 2 full or 2 face cords of chunky's to burn ?
In my case, I planned on burning in the owb, but decommissioned it (mostly - will probably fire it a few times this year to keep it in good shape) and went to an indoor stove.
Probably about three cord once all is said and done. I'm only about a third of the way through, as other wood tasks keep me from working on it much.
