The other day I sawed up about a cord of branches, limbs, and uglies. Today I split it and drove it over to the stacking area, Only a pic of the first load. Asplundh was trimming power lines across the road and threw the logs onto my land yesterday. I just dragged em downhill 20 feet to the stacks. I took a pic of a little tree growing in a log in my pile turning red DSCN2065.JPG DSCN2068.JPG DSCN2066.JPG DSCN2067.JPG DSCN2063.JPG

In your first picture, that wooden "X" thing - I have one of those in my barn and I have no idea what it's used for, or how its used. Does it have something to do with processing logs?

Most people use them to process limb wood. Pile it full and cut them to length.

Ah nice. That's actually pretty great! I was going to just toss it because it seemed useless to me if I didn't know what it was.

Now I will definitely be keeping it!

It's a very heavy duty sawbuck that I made. It can hold many hundreds of pounds logs, and has. As GrJfer said, I pile several or more logs on it with butts lined up and one cut does multiple logs. Nice to meet you paintblljnkie . Ask away any questions you may have, this is the place to get answers. Lots of great folks here.:handshake:

Good work there - it sure is more comfortable working in 40 than it is in 97, innit?
