I think everyone should read this book- Lies My Doctor Told Me by Ken D. Berry MD .

Basically everything we've been told about diet, nutrition for the past 60 years is based on flawed, manipulated or in a lots of cases NO data or research to back them up. he also has YouTube videos and a Facebook page.

After reading the book, Lori & I started on the Ketogenic way of eating 2 months ago. No sugars, starches, grains and most dairy. I've lost 10 lbs (but I also started weight/strength training so I would have lost more but have gained some muscle mass). Lori in addition to having fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue, Duputryn's Contracture in her hands (and the frozen shoulder that is common with Duputryn's), rheumatoid arthritis in her hands, is also type 2 diabetic. So far on the Keto diet she has lost 12 lbs (of the 40 she has gained since going on insulin 2 yrs ago) and is almost off all her meds (metformin, 2 types of insulin and Trulicity) as her blood sugar every day is between 90-110. Type 2 diabetes is a disease of diet and on Keto it is reversable.

You hit it on the head SR it is not cholesterol it is SUGAR that is the inflammatory and the food for many diseases including cancer, diabetes, and so many others that the human race faces. Sugar is disguised in carbs and many other ways and the responsible factor for obesity and so many other problems too many to list. The medical society pumped fat fat fat ! is the problem but the truth be told is is not fat as there is healthy fat that benefits the body unlike SUGAR.

I for one changed my diet as I was forewarned of diabetes(borderline diabetic) thus prompting me to do a lot of research and my findings are are exactly the same as many of those who are not affiliated or should I say dependent upon the medical / pharmaceutical community. The problem is not FAT but SUGAR ! Once i changed my diet and my cholesterol has always been good but improved with the change in my diet my heath improved.
My sugar problem is alcohol as it contains far too much sugar and I self medicate to offset the daily stress I endure at my job but am confident that once I leave this Godforsaken business my health will improve as I will have removed nearly all sugar from my diet.
Fortunately I do not take any prescribed medications with the exception of sleep aid which I would love to stop once my mind does not race through out the night with the concerns of work . My intent or goal is to not to ever take any prescribed medications but to take what is available naturally. With that said I am not condemning or questioning anyone's use of prescribed medication, I am just stating my experience and goals.

    (Edit)
Just saw your last post and my wife and my sister are on the Keto diet with amazing results, just to reinforce how bad sugar is for you and fat can be beneficial.

    End of my health experience

As always hope all are well.

The sugar industry and the tobacco industry are kindred spirits of addiction.

Processed food, artificial sweeteners. If you can't pronounce the ingredients, sorry, it isn't fit to eat. My doctor said, eat: what had eyes, or what is green. Eat these when you are hungry and eat until you are content. Weight loss will follow until you reach a wt that is good for you. I have 125 lbs to lose. at 71 it isn't easy at all. I also battle with PTSD which contributes to my situation. I've been half way there twice, then I fail. Isn't easy. Anyone attempting to lose that much weight needs lots of support.

I do a keto diet once or twice a year just as a kind of reset button. For what it is worth my Cholesterol on Keto was 171. Normal diet 174.
You do realize while doing keto how you are never tired after a meal. And i always say to myself i should always eat like this. However, it is very difficult to maintain socially.

Agreed. I talked with him on Friday to set up 4 pallets to Kittery for someone-he is about a week and a half out on deliveries. He has been to my area twice and doesnt know if he will be back up here again. If he does, then I will grab a few ton for insurance. That would give me 6 ton.

In the meantime, I may pickup some 20-25 bag loads from wherever. Thats why I was asking about bag prices-Id rather give Henry the business than big box. Thats if Henry sells less than pallet. I understand if he doesnt as his stock looks like its all outside which makes it difficult after pallets are opened.

    Careful there B.

Ive had 40-45 bags in my Honda Ridgeline, but now wont do more than 25-30 max. My truck is getting older (2009 with almost 200K and I dont want to damage anything ( mostly the transmission and drive train) just to save a few dollars or a little time.

I too suffer the issues of the MIND RACING in the quiet of night.

Years ago I started listening to COAST TO COAST AM on the radio... I have found that it focuses my head away from the stuff the messes with my head. (And I soon drift off to sleep)

I have tried the "White noise" generators (Crickets, rain, wind, thunder) but I enjoy the C TO C more.

The pills leave me a real AZZ the next day...not good...

Check out “The Science of Fasting” on Amazon Prime. Big Pharma won’t fund any research on this.

yes the keto way of eating takes a firm commitment to it. Fortunately I enjoy the challenge and have stocked our pantry with all the stuff to make keto breads, snacks, fat bombs, even our own protein bars ($7-$8 for 5 bars in the store is just crazy). I have bullitproof coffee every morning (black coffee, 2 Tbsp butter, 1 Tbsp MCT oil), 3 eggs, 4-6 slices of bacon. Protein bar or fat bomb mid morning, lunch is either a big salad or keto bread sandwich both using leftover meat from night before, a protein shake pre & post afternoon workout (workout is a 1 mile fast walk followed by 45 min+ using weights), good fatty meat plus veggies for dinner (usually riced veggies or veggie noodles) and a fat bomb or keto dessert (found a nice recipe for a keto brownie that is really good). The food plan for Lori is 70/25/5 (% of fat/protein/carbs), mine is 60/30/10 as I need more protein & carbs to build & keep muscle mass. It took Lori longer to start seeing weight loss as it took 4-5 weeks for her insulin use/need to reduce so her body could start using fat for fuel. So far I'm impressed with both our results. With all her issues I do all the shopping, cooking so it's easy for me to keep her on Keto. BTW I'm 64-1/2, Lori 61-1/2 so it's never too late to start keto.

Good stuff! It definitely takes a commitment. I have done it for three or four months at my longest. Normally it is just a 4-6 week thing in the Spring and again in the Fall.

Love that they now have the frozen riced cauliflower, sweet potatoes and squash. Makes it easy for me to take to work and make a bowl, add butter, cinnamon and cream for my breakfast or mid morning snack "cereal". I am not on keto - just tend to like this sort of thing. Probably should do a spell of keto though to get me off the candy and sugary snacks I have later in the day!
