Different brand, but mine likes 1/2 throttle, full choke, 1 pull. Then back choke to 1/2 to 2/3, pull a couple more times and its off to the races.

One thing I have noticed with my splitter is if I move it around without shutting the gas off it will flood easily.

Shiny dip sticks and clear oil sure are difficult to read. But there are a couple tricks you can do to make it easier. First isn't as perment, use a black sharpie and color the cleaned dip stick from the full mark to the tip. Lasted two years on my z turn mower with a Kohler.

Second one is perment use a small center punch and make a dimple at the full mark, then use a 1/16 inch drill bit at a very slow speed to drill thru the dip stick. If it has a quart low mark (most small engines don't have one.) drill a second hole there. If it has a low mark drill a second hole there.

Mine likes half throttle and just a touch off full choke. It is about the sweet spots :) DHT Kohler engine.
Mine also hates if I turn off the fuel supply for any length of time. There’s a small metal fuel line that enters the carb. Any oxygen in there and it oxidizes causing a a plug.

Brand new, never run I filled it with gas. Had everything set to run. Was just about to yank on it and decided I’d pull it over real slow in the hopes of moving some oil around. Barely pulling the rope and it popped and came to life. I was impressed.

It is impressive huh?, mine fired first pull first start also while moving oil around, and the ethanol in fuel anymore don’t help matters none especially with aluminum carb bodies

My Kohler on my County Line's throttle sits at 3/4 and is never moved. Flip the choke on full and it fires first pull every single time.

I try to run all my small engines on non ethanol fuel to avoid problems. It's about 60% more than regular fuel, but worth not having to worry about it. I buy it at an airport on the seacoast when I'm in the area.

I have to go to an airfield that's about an hour away to get fuel. Try and grab 10 gallons at a time.

Check out Puregas.org to see what's around you. A lot of them listed will be just selling cans of fuel for $97 a gallon though.

Thanks everyone who posted their throttle/choke configuration to start their splitter.
Went out this evening, full choke throttle opened almost all the way and 1 pull it started.
I assumed it would start on the lowest throttle and full choke, so that was my problem.
I assumed.. seemed to make sense to me.

Yeah without giving it some throttle, the choke plate doesn't provide enough restriction to pull extra fuel in...

Lots of stations in this area now have a pump marked Rec Fuel which is non ethnol stuff.
Haven't checked the price of the stuff yet my self.

Tractor Supply has the splitter on sale for 799 this weekend.
So being the miser I am, I went back and asked for a partial refund on the difference.
They honored their sale price with no issues. It was worth trying for $50!
I had some big rounds that were forked and cut up at weird angles and processed them last night. The splitter chunked right thru them.
It wasn't fast about it but it worked right thru them.
With the assistance of the members here in getting it to start much easier, I'm really pleased overall with this buy.

I was told that premium gas sold at stations is ethanol free by a fuel delivery transporter.
Can anyone confirm or deny that.

Its not around here...if it says "may contain up to 10% ethanol" on the pump, it has 10% ethanol.
If its E free then it will be marked in a way that is hard to miss IME.

Not around here. There will be a sticker on the pump telling you alcohol content

I am just over the NY State line and the pumps at our local Stewart's Shops have 91 octane Non-Ethanol the other place that has it is the Pit-Stop brand gas stations.
I believe there is one on Rt. 7A between Bennington and Arlington, I think it is just a little ways north of Dailey's Concrete. Just because it is Premium does not necessarily mean it is E-Free. It needs to be marked on pump.Hope this helps?
