Nice morning, so I decided to do an overdue oil change on the Jeep. Got all done, and while putting things away in the shed, was trying to avoid the mud by walking on some slightly slushy ice/snow.......and fell....again. This time, I twisted my right knee pretty good and had a tough time walking back to the house. Good thing it's about to rain, cause it gives me an excuse to stay in the rest of the day. Temp has dropped down to about 50 from 60 when I was doing the oil change. Put a couple pine splits in the 30 when I got up, and the house got to about 73. Too warm for me, so no more fire.
I hear the river (yours) is getting wild, Massena has a big ice jam below the Alcoa Bridge on the Grasse River.
Hope your knee gets better quickly....Sorry to hear that, It was 23 degrees here this morning but warmed up nicely, think that is the last of the cold here....
Take it easy on that knee and get well. Looks like we are not done burnin yet, snow n cold next week. 15 Tues night WTF
In the 60's today. Turned the boiler off. Wife and I both busy. Probably leave it off for a day or two and excersize the oil boiler.
I haven't had a chance to get down and see it in the last 4 days! This is the best time to see it running fast. I went by the Black River near Watertown the other day. Some serious rapids there! I hope to get down and see the Oswegatchie Saturday.
60 here right now in the shade. What's left of snow around the house is almost gone. Muck n' crud now down in the woods. Found a nice big pothole opening up in our drive this morning… ugh.
We ran a small fire this morning, 52 degrees at the moment, more rain & snow (2-4 inches) in the forecast.
I never made a fire last night so it was cool in here this morning, we have some Cherry going in the Liberty, I think we dropped to the mid 20's.
We don't need 2-4 inches in the forecast! I fired the boiler for a while this morning. Try to keep the oil from coming on now that it has had a chance to run of and on for a while.
And Heuvelton is getting it. Someone said river to rise 2" a day for another 1-2 weeks. Yikes. http://www.ogd.com/article/20140412/OGD/704119803/1023
I agree Gasifier, I hope those totals come down. The Brook is down over a foot from yesterday so that's good but I see they're getting close to the action stage south of us.
Here's what they estimate, this will go up just like Piercefield, they're calling for an inch of rain in that area Monday or Tuesday. If it gets to high in Piercefield they'll send it this way, some houses/camps at the Colton end of the Raquette River are just above the river height today.
