Got the boiler fired up but the house isn't calling for any heat. I guess whatever little bit of heat I'm "leaking" in my PEX lines is enough to maintain temp.
Finally getting some fall temps in GA. At least a couple days. Sure felt good to go outside with shorts on and not start sweating 10 minutes later...
46F and raining. I just lit the first fire of the year. Couple of small 2x4 scraps I found in the stove, and a bunch of hardwood pallet scraps.
33 this am, and 61 in the house. Guess what I did. Yep, had a fire. 2 small sticks of Pine and some smaller pieces of Ash kindling. 68 in here now. Should hit close to 50 and partly sunny. Might cut some of that Willow that got dropped off a couple days ago.
Turned out to be too dangerous. I had 14 inches of slop at 7500 feet, and winds were way to high. That job may be on hold until June
Temp dropping into the thirties this week. Fired up the boiler. Started burning weekend fireplace last nights got. Wife came home after dark and smelled the chimney smoke, saw the fire and put her into a good mood. Had a good size sycamore branch blocking a gateway. Cut it up and put t n the stack. Gorgeous day today.
40ish outside. 75ish inside. House still not calling for heat from the boiler. Might have to let it go out until daytime highs stay in the 40s.
Do you live at an elevation of 7500 ft or is that your work elevation? Im just shy of 4000 ft at my house. Glad you didnt put trusses up in that kind of weather. I know what its like to frame houses in the slippery stuff and placing trusses often isnt one of the jobs I would do when its like that. Edit: We had some snow squalls here today. My son and I poured some concrete on a fence line in our back yard. We are sitting at about -1c/30f now but it was up to 6c/42f this afternoon. I hope the concrete will be ok. The ground isnt frozen and Ive insulated it best I can.
Southwest Vermont 36 at 6 am. First run on the boiler/radiator system. It started right up. Waiting on my chimney liner and blower for the Lopi to arrive for the wood burn start. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It’s 34 outside and and it was still 80 in the stove room this morning. I kept it going yesterday with the windows open but I’ll let it burn down today and stoke it up again tonight. I’m still adjusting to a stove that throws heat 12 hours or so after the fire goes out.
Hard someway say it's like the weather saw a State Trooper. Went from 80 down to 55 in the blink of an eye.
41 OAT 63 IAT when I got up. Burning some ugly chunks of ash to take the chill out. Lots of outside work today before more rain tonight.
was 42* this morning when I got up. Loaded the Fireview w some pine splits to take the chill off. Feels good.
No, I actually live at 5300 feet. I'm in a valley, surrounded by the pintler mountain range that go lots higher. The job is an hour drive/climb off the valley floor. Your concrete will be fine. I've poured sonotubes at 5 above, with no problem. Even pole barnes I will pour down to 10 below. Just throw some hay over the hole. I use 1% calcium, and hotwater.
